It is never the guitar that makes the type of music, it's the guitarist. Trust me. :D

And for rock songs...maybe White Wedding by Billy Idol? Just a thought. Hope it helps. :)

I would recommend listening to The Who to hear the proper way to handle an acoustic guitar in a rock vain.

Also old Rolling Stones. Listen to how hard the acoustic rhythm propelled those songs on hits like Satlsfaction, The Last Time, Street Fighting Man, etc....

+1 for The Who. It's not that hard to play if you've got some basic knowledge down, and it sounds really cool. Good luck :D

for the most part, any song you like can be worked out on an acoustic. the fun thing about it is re-arranging it and making it your own. take the tabs, or just the chord arrangements and make it work.
lots of luck!

Rock? Hmm that's quite a broad spectrum - what are you interested in?

I dont consider it rock, but Jack Johnson has tons of acoustic jams that are fun to play. Some are more challenging than others, maybe give "Gone" a look? great for learning some barre chords.

try Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here. It'll get you acquainted with some chords and is pretty easy to learn. Good acoustic song.

And don't forget some old stuff, like Presley and the Everly Brothers and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.

There are even "unplugged" surf albums.
