Like many other kids of the 60s I saw Ed Sullivan in Feb. 64 my 10th birthday was in March and my parents gave me my first guitar and I haven't put it down since although I didn't start seriously practicing until 12.

I had been fooling around alot with my mom's old no-name acoustic but I started to get really serious about learning the instrument when I was about 17. 23 now and have never looked back.

I started at age 12 on a hand-me-down Stella acoustic.

I had a guitar at age 14, but I can't remember the name of it. I also didn't play it very much. I'd say I really started to play at the age of 31 on a Squier Strat.

This is a tough question.

My Dad always had a guitar in the house, so I had one on my lap as long as I can remember.

I got my own Student Sized Acoustic at 8, and played the first 12 notes of Baby Please Don't Go and a handful of Surf Riffs for the next 8 years.

At 16 I got a Bass and an Acoustic Guitar and go serious. That's when I say I started, but the noodling and fooling around I did before that was experience that must be counted.

I remember when I smashed my first guitar (around age 12)...it was just a toy acoustic kind of thing...I may be a rock star yet

As for playing, I started last year. I'm not nearly as far as I should be. Still at very basic levels. The journey is the fun though! 8)

Hi all

I am 47 years old and I bought, my very first, Stratocaster in September of 2009.

A 2006 Highway One (old style, small headstock)

3 color sun burst.

I am just learning to play at the moment.

Take care.

:D :D :D

I started when I was 11 playing the worst used acoustic guitar ever made with action a mile high and 300-year-old strings. Not knowing what to do with it, I started taking lessons in a Parks & Recreation summer group class (that's not a joke, btw). Not getting anywhere fast, at the age of 12 I finally (after much begging) got my uncle to let me borrow his vintage Fender Duosonic and Gibson amp (the amp barely worked). These were what my uncle got previously for him to learn on, but he gave up. Ohhhhhhh, this was muuuuuch better. With this real gear came also one-on-one lessons, and from there I be rollin'....

I started in 1958 at age 12. JESUS on a Stella acoustic. First electric was a Kay double pickup pawn shop guitar, with a Kay tube amp - about 4 watts.(1960) Over the years many Fenders, Gibsons, Silvertones, Teiscos, Ibanez, Yamaha etc. etc. Amps, much the same. Now I own twenty-seven assorted Fenders Gibsons, Epiphones, a Gretsch, a couple of Yamaha Guitars and my favorite amp is my 59 Bassman LTD. I figured I'd probably outgrow this sickness.....but one never does. I still work with a great band, tho we don't gig as much as I used to. Just the good paying jobs a couple of times a month - enough to get a fix once in a while. :D

Started aged about 8 on a Yamaha Pacifica that I still own!
But I rarely use it, sometimes just for obscure tuning.

I use my Fender Strat or Ibanez RGT these days.
