Started at age 16 on a $@!&#* G2 P bass clone through a marshall guitar amp haha. I tell you when I got my Laney and American Jazz bass the range and quality of tone was more than amazing. I also instantly fell in love with the J bass neck.

I tried numerous time to learn the guitar over the years, i started learning bass on various epiphones and no names that were in the house around 10. From that i taught my self the guitar aged about 13 on a lovely Japanese lp copy (which i still have).
Now ive got an MiM standard jazz bass and telecaster.

Started at 10 with a plastic guitar and gold speckle finish top? Bought my first real guitar at 13 (paperboy), for $100.00, it was a westwood copy of an SG back in 1973-74 and a 65 blackface fender bandmaster w/ 2x12 univox cab for $100. used. Played in a few garage bands til just after high school. Then work, kids came to play. Started up again in 2006 and play in two bands. Going on 48 years, trying to pick up, where I left off on that dream to be a rock star. At least I'm gonna have fun tryin'. My gear listed below.

I started music in '04 on the flute (for 1 day) then trumpet for 2 years. Then baritone for like... 3-4 years maybe. And in '08 I boaught my squier jazz bass an started a band. Kept the baritone for a year longer then called her to quits (never really played it much any way). Now I've been playing for close to 2 years I think an just ordered a '51 p bass RI.

So I started when I was 10 and REALLY started playing when I was 13.

I think it 1964, which would mean I was 14. It was a Zen-On nylon string which I still have, (and still can't find tuning machines that will fit), a Christmas present from my folks. I think it cost about $30 but it looked a lot like Peter Yarrows jumbo Gibson as far as I was concerned. Specially after I painstakingly cut out and varnished a piece of mahogany veneer and glued it on for a pickguard.

Take that, Ceri!!

Peace, Gridlok 8)

This is my first guitar played (sort of) by my son about 10 years ago. (It's also the reason I need tuning machines if I ever want to play it again.)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBOngERDIvc

That's about when I started!! :) I started playing before the British Invasion. I remember playing "Rebel Rouser" by Dwayne Eddie.

My folks got me a Gibson (L-7 I believe).

I sure am glad I stuck with it and I am glad to be a Fender player now. 8)
