I am at work right now and there is NOTHING to do. I work in a college bookstore and it is dead in here. Is anyone else in store for a boring day at the office? Somebody please post some interesting topics today so my day can fly by!

I'm extremely lucky in that my chosen career allows me two months of down time in January and February. No work for me today! :D

That sounds sweet! Having January and February off up here in Canada would be ideal!!

Not today, but this forum is one of the few that I can look at while at work since the word "Forum" or "Board" is not in the primary or secondary part of the web address, as they have filters at work to block out any websites with those words as part of the address.

Just another reason to love Fender

I work a swing-shift in a chemical plant. We take really nasty chemicals and mix them with other really nasty chemicals along with really, really nasty catalysts to make other chemicals.

Right now one of my guys is making the connections to unload a high pressure tanker railcar carrying a chemical called Butadienne. Its some of the worst stuff in existence. Earlier today the crew was working with a catalyst called NaK. Its sodium potassium alloy. Extremely explosive stuff.

We take our training very seriously and tend to keep our minds on what we're doing at the time while working with some of these things. But, once these things are taken care of there's pretty much nothing else to do except keep an eye on the pumps and reactors and things. That's the time we might noodle around on the computer. Kind of like, uh, now.

Well its been Beer o'clock here in Australia for about 4 hours already but I can empathise with you. Today just took FOREVER. I swear that at about 2pm, the clock started going backwards. At least that's what it felt like...

I took the day off to do home improvement. I'd rather be at work when my boss is not there but we can't surf because the tax payers would not like that. There was a Dilbert comic that had Dilbert telling his boss that he was going to use time off from work to stand in line for a couple of hours for something he could have done online in 5 seconds.

No work today. Construction has come to a complete standstill hereabouts. I work for a mason and we haven't had steady work since Sept - just some remodels here and there. Have two huge projects we were pulled off of until the market settles down.

No worries. I'm too old to be in construction anyway. Let this old body heal up a bit.
Interesting - no young ppl coming up in the trades. We've tried hiring younger guys. They last about two days. Can't say as I blame 'em. Like one said "This is hard!". yup

Don't be in any hurry!! Stay in school as long as ya can!!
Find something you truly love doing, learn as much as you can and get to be the best at it.
My uncle loved to fish, so he went into Fish&Wildlife at the UW. Now he gets paid to fish and fly around in a helicopter all day.

Work is for those with nothing better to do. If you truly love what you do, it's more like play than work
