I found a dead strat locked in a church closet, and eventually got it.
At the same time, another Pastor lent me his tiny Fender 15.
Once the Strat was operational, I got to enjoy myself, yet, living in an apartment complex, I knew that I could hear but never be able to feel the sound.
It had been years since I had messed around with a strat, my firstborn would first experience both overdrive and his tiny hands pushing down on the trem.
Funny, he didn't like the clean sound, he just had to whammy.
I still have pictures of that somewhere...

No, he moved on to wherever his independent streak has led him over the years.
I can't complain about something I wanted to nurture.
He does things on his own terms, he's now 14, and his decision to learn guitar or not will be taken when he wants to.
So far he messes with the melody from "painted black", I'm sure that whatever he does, I'll be happy to see him out-do me.

Hello Rdclmn7,

Both my sons never got the
music making thing going.

But they did turn out to be great men.

Cheers.

My son is 15 months old...so far his favourite activity is scraping the tremelo springs. That and pulling the pickup selector switch tip off. If he can just manage to grind the neck against a mic stand, he may yet be a guitarist...

I took my 3 year old in the local shop to pick up some strings, me and the guy behind the counter got to bs,ing about guitar things and all of a sudden the guys face goes pale and I turn around my little one has 1,500 dollar guitar in his little paws. Needless to say I bought a uke that day and he's been bangin on that thing every since.

This kid had discovered his first christmas tree at about the same time, it took some doing to get the fragile things out of his hands, finally I let him think I wasn't looking, the only lights on were those of the tree.
I had a Vivitar that basically turned a LED green when your settings were good.
So, I tweaked the aperture and shutter until I got a perfect shot of him inside the tree itself.

This kid also suprised me once when he demonstrated how quickly he could dismantle some small multipieced object, one moment it was there, the next, there were pieces everywhere....

Yeah, child-proofing doesn't come close to what it takes...

He's bound to out-do me, It took years for me to realize that singing Journey, Kansas and Ronnie James Dio, all to the original key were anything out of the ordinary.
As soon as he heard Gates of Babylon, I could hear him matching it note for note.
Push the kid, I don't have to, so, no matter he ends up doing, its all good.

Mine sons are both older now (14 and 16) so the "gear abuse" has been replaced with "gear borrowing".

I enjoy playing with them a whole lot. We make a mean 3 piece home grown metal band.
