Alright, so i've been using my little Bullet 150 amp i got in the squier amp/guitar combo for quite some time now.

I now going for an upgrade.

Im looking for something probably 30 watts. or less. and i have a price range of max 360$

With that price range i know it will probably be a solid state amp, and thats fine with me.

As well. for this being on a fender forum, im guessing il reciever a lot of fender amp suggestions, but i am open to other brands as well.

Oh yeah, and i play pretty much anything so, a good well rounded amp would be nice.

Hope you guys can provide some input.

thanks in advance.

Tube amps are available in your range or just a tad more.
280$ Crate V18 (18W)
http://www.music123.com/Crate-V-Series- ... 4.Music123

350$ BlackHeart Little giant (5W)
http://www.music123.com/Blackheart-BH5- ... 7.Music123

450$ BlackHeart handsome Devil (15W)
http://www.music123.com/Blackheart-BH15 ... 0.Music123

480$ Fender Blues Junior (15W)
http://www.music123.com/Fender-Hot-Rod- ... 7.Music123

Looks like music123 has not raised the prices yet!, the BJ is 600$ at SweetWater now!

I have not heard the Create but the BlackHeart's and Blues Junior sound very good and can get surprisingly quite loud.

Oh wait, I did not spot you were also from Canada.
:(

The main music chain here Long&Mcquade have done the price jump thing.
If you are anywhere near NewMarket Ontario,
The Arts Music Shop had the Crates and BlackHearts a few months ago.
Have not been there in a while, and from what I have heard they have pumped up their prices for 2009.
Cross border shopping might be an expensive option :(

If you are looking for solid state, I do like my Roland Cube 20X practice amp.

Congrats! Always nice to find a good sale!
Not familiar with the Boss distortion but they are usually good pedals.

My suggestion is to look at used amps over new. I don't generally recommend that inexperienced folks buy used guitars as there's so many things that can be wrong with them, but amps are a different matter. Personally I'm a big fan of Peavey. I have 3 older Peavey SS's that have served me very well for many years. If you look around though, you can find some really sweet deals in your price range. One of my local music stores here in Ohio for example has a near mint Lab L5 100 watt 2x12 combo for around $325. In fact, I got my own L5 at a guitar show for only $45 (granted it needed some work). The deals are there to be had if you're willing to look for them.

By going with a used amp, you can generally get a -much- better amp for the money that you are looking to spend vs. buying new. I would suggest avoiding the lower-end amps such as Crate, the Marshall "MG" series, certainly amps such as First Act, Gorilla, etc.. Crate for example has made some very good amps, but they've also made -a lot- of crap too. Either way, for that $360 you should be able to pickup something used that's quite gig worthy. In addition to any local music stores that sell used gear, I would also check your local classified ads and even places such as Craigslist or even flea markets. Just make sure you test the amp out first...actually plug your own guitar thru it and see how it sounds to you. There shouldn't be any loud buzzes or crackles or anything and obviously is smoke starts rolling out of the amp, just walk away :D.

Lastly, if you should consider a used tube amp (and they can be found in that price range) do be prepared to spend extra money to replace the tubes and if it's really old (more than 30 years) it may even require more work. I mention this because depending on the amp, tubes for example can run as much as $60 a pair or more (not including preamp tubes) and a re-cap can cost $250 or more...this should be factored into the cost of the amp.

Just some thoughts for ya,
Good Luck!
Jim

I recommend a marshall AVT 20, theyre are hybrid amps with a vacuum tube in the pre amp section , you crank it and you are in heaven , I like them so much that I have three of them I bought off ebay .. :)

If you play only at home, or occasionally jam with just another guitar player, you might consider the GDEC 30. As an amp, it has nice tone (many of them, which you can tweak to your hear's content) and it's loaded with some useful jamtrax. These have helped me immensely with timing etc in solos. I think about $450 or so, I bought a used one for under $300.
