Wow... even idiots who play country music know how to do that.

Nice Mark Knopfler Strat(Neck) in that link....

Doubt if he knows that Mark used to play country with Chet Atkins. Could always take the advise of the late great Jerry Reed - "If you don't tune up up good it'll sound like there are more of us". :)

I got a pretty cheap fender e-tuner, cant remember where from but once you have E thats all you need then you just need:
E 5th fret = open a
a 5th fret = open d
d 5th fret = open g
g 4th fret = open b
b 5th fret = open e

Yeah and once you have that korg tuner, or whatever other brands are out there, try only tuning the low E, then tune the rest with your god-given ears!

will really improve your musical hearing skills.
( 5th fret of low E = A, 5th fret of A is D, fifth fret of D is G, 4th fret of G is B, 5th fret of B is E)
ya dig?

I wouldn't try this at first though. Do it if you want.

Most music shops sell inexpensive tuners for $15-$20. Very small and compact. Some even give off audible sound so you can actually hear the pitch of the note you're supposed to tune to. Some also have a mic built into the tuner for acoustic guitars.

actually i would suggest learning how to tune in this manner. Considering playing music is such a hearing art, I think you should train your ear. it amazes me how many people HAVE to lug out the tuner just to tune up. You will need to learn how to tune relative to other instruments if you want to play with other people anyway.odds are with a tuner you will be out of tune with other instruments.

I tune my A string, and then adjust the other strings relative to it.

i usually only use my tuner when I change strings, or if i am doing a set up, and adjust the intonation. But the times I check myself against the tuner, I am barely out, if at all. its easy to keep in tune once you develop the skill. tuners can be a crutch.

Whenever I use my tuner during a setup I always have to go back to each strings and fine tune anyway, my ears never agree with the tuner 100%.
