Gibson did introduce thinlines by 55, but the one Marty placed was not one of them. The semi hollows came around in 58, and the variation he played was later.

The guitar he had would be much like ones Berry would use later in his career, but not in 55.

Yes it's a nitpick, and it didn't ruin the movie for me, but I picked it out right away. The non guitarists watching with me didn't care.

Oh well, I know they got it wrong.

He plays a character named Needles. He is Marty's co-worker in BTTF #2 and he races Marty's truck near the end of BTTF #3. You know, the crash that ruined his music career!
