I was checking out my guitars the other day and I noticed if I hold it in the light you can lines underneath the finish. I noticed it particularly on my sunburst Jagmaster. Where the wood on the body has been put together, you can see a line that looks like its indented in the guitar, not just a wood seam. It looks like you could feel it if you ran your finger across it but you can't. I can see this on my Tele and Strat as well but they are both "painted" but the lines are still visible.
Is this a humidity issue or just something that happens to guitars?
Its too hard to take a picture of what I see.

I am going to take a stab in the dark and guess that both of these guitars are MIM?

No, the Tele is a 1994 MIA, the Strat is a 2002 MIA and the Jagmaster is a 2008 CIC.

Wow! That is surprising! I saw a few MIM models in a music store a couple of months ago and they had the same thing. There were five lines running from neck to butt end. Evenly spaced. But you had to hold it just right. The sun happened to be hitting them just right in the store or I would have missed them. It was on both teles and strats.

Mr Bill and myself noticed the same phenomenon with our vintage hotrods. Someone else noticed it with his custom shop clapton and enquired of fender what was going on. Our suspicions were validated. Its a thinskin paint job sinking into the wood grain over time. Nothing to worry about at all, infact fender seem to be encouraging it on their high end finishes.
