yeah, that was odd, maybe a signature model coming out with them?
BB's tone was sick!! I couldn't believe that one guy had the balls to step all over BB's solo. They didn't get nearly enough time to show off their chops

That one guy was Keith Urban. He just doesn't know I guess.

The next time you watch BB, take notice that he can't play chords. He admitted it on the KWS DVD 10 Days on the Backroads. Now I can't help but notice that he doesn't and/or can't play chords.

What BB has admitted to often is that he can't sing and play at the same time. He uses 'fills' between the lines of his verses and choruses. He can best be characterized as a minimalist guitar player who does not engage in long, creative soloing. A careful listening of his work would support this.

That short blues set, on the heels of Bo Diddley as the last of those who passed being remembered, was simply offered as a taste. As I remarked in an earlier post, don't expect anything grand supporting the kind of things this forum comes together for.

As for Buddy and the LP, I knew that would be a hot topic today. He was, of course, photographed with a Tele on one of his recent CD releases. Don't forget that Guild Bluebirds are in his history as well.

I appreciate the angst expressed by some of you but....Teflon is good. Resolves a multitude of conflicts. Let it slide.

In the final analysis, it's about the music.

The first half of this speculation is reasonable, considering that possiblity that Buddy borrowed the gear.

Playing in a foursome, why would John be expected to give up HIS guitar?

On this end, that's the only segment I stumbled upon, coming in at the beginning of the tribute to those who had passed. I found the loss of BOTH of Hendrix's drummers ironic. Particularly saddened at the death of Richard Wright of 'Pink Floyd' as well. If someone had witnessed any mention of Leo Fender, I also would be looking forward to hearing what.

I had the pleasure of meeting Bo Diddley during a lunch time stroll, stopping in at the fabled "Manny's" on NYC's 48th about 15 years ago. He was sitting smack dab inside the entry with some electronic creation on his lap which looked like something out of a Star Trek episode. A very pleasant man who shared without attitude.

The short blues jam which followed was worth the accidental tune in, although it appeared a tad disorganized. BB has to be given the credit due his legacy and seniority. I would bet he does not walk well due to his weight and diabetes. Time is not on his side and any opportunity any of us might have to see him live should be seized forthwith. Buddy is following close on the heels with respect to his aging. I hope his health is better.
John, hopefully, will continue to pursue a long and starry career. I'd like to see him do a serious blues session in tribute to his heroes. The guy has chops which are generally wasted in his commercial work.

Doc.

I'll have to find this Grammy Jam on Youtube. Buddy's Played Strats pretty much since Stevie Ray Vaughan and Eric Clapton made them popular again in the late 80's. When I first got into Buddy, he was a very different Blues Player than he is today. Cleaner Tones, BB-esque long bends and he didn't sing much. When I discovered him in the 80's he didn't even have a record deal, let alone a signature Strat. He used a Gibson ES-335 on John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers - Jammin' With The Blues Greats: Live 1982, and most pictures of him in the late 60's show him with a White SG sportin' a Maestro Tem.

It's pretty surprising that he'd make a public apearance without his Strat, though. He usualy doesn't miss a chance to Show off and sell his Strats or any Fender Product. Maybe he borrowed it back stage.

I also read that he said you don't need to use piano strings to get good tone (11's, 12's, 13's like SRV)
