It really depends on what you styles you want to play, but many of the Made in Mexico Fenders are amazing guitars. If you can, get to a shop and play as many in your price range as you can to see which one seems to fit your playing best.

I would go with a MIM Strat or Tele. Great guitars for the money, and they will last a long time.

Yep what they all said.

Look at the MIMs and play as many as you can. Some people will tell you that you can pick up 3 or 4 of the same model and they will play quite differently. Just settle for the one that feels right TO YOU.

A Strat is probably more versatile and is definately more comfortable than a Tele but at the end of the day it just depends on what you like to play and which sounds best to you.

Good luck and please let us know what you end up with.

Yes it depends on your style and what you are looking for. You could get a MIM Strat or Tele, a PRS Soapbar, Epi. LP Standard best thing is to go to a store and try them.

An MIM Strat is likely the most versatile $500 guitar around, though some folks have spoken highly of a top-end Epiphone SG.

I agree with the other suggestions on the MIM Strat. Good guitar for the price.
