So if nobody's watching the Grammys tonight, is that because they are watching the BAFTA instead?

I don't think I get the BAFTA in my TV market. Sorry.

Anyone not watching isn't really missing anything. Coldplay won the best rock album despite not really being a rock band (in my mind anyways, I suppose they could be considered one.)

You know, I don't know why I subject myself to the Grammys. I really don't. The current state of popular music is disappointing at best.

The arrogance of Hip Hop artists, for instance Kanye West's comment for presenting Best New Artist he had to state that "I don't know why we (meaning his co-presenter) never won it". For crying out loud he has 10, yes 10 Grammys!

Plus I am of the opinion that most of these "artists" are much better when in the studio and using all the "tricks of the trade" than live.

Plus the Leo Fender award was done in a private invitation only ceremony so it probably won't be aired. It probably won't be even mentioned. Which is truly sad.

This is the last time I am going to watch the Grammys. It is just too depressing.

Plant and Krauss "Raising Sand" Album of the Year plus 4 other Grammys? I wasn't even watching but that's Great News. Way To Go Robert and Alison.

I never watch the horrible overcooked TV show, but I read the list of winners in the paper this AM and found that the Academy did a tad better this year. The "Raising Sand" awards are well deserved, and with bands like Kings of Leon winning major awards, it's a bit tastier than in years past.

Still stupid, but better.

And c'mon, did you expect Leo Fender to get a photo montage with VO in the broadcast? The TV show is for fans of pop music. They don't know who makes the guitars, and they don't care. The fact that the Academy recognized him at all is, I suspect, teh result of a PR effort on Fender's part, not much different from the bought-and-paid-for stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Has there been a special Grammy for Georg Neumann or Tom Dowd, both of whom are far more important to the advancement of recorded music that Leo? Les Paul won Grammys for actual records at the age of 90, but does he have a "special" one for his contributions to mutli-track?

The award is plenty on its own.

Yeah, but they always go off and honor people like that. I was surprised there was not even a quick mention. That saddens me.

What a joke.

Wasn't Paul McCartney set to perform with Dave Grohl?

He did. Sir Paul played I Saw Her Standing There with Dave on drums just banging away. Short but sweet.
