Hello everyone,
I am currently looking to buy a new amp and need to decide between these three amps. I primarily will use this for little gigs and it also needs to be a nice bedroom amp as well. All three of these have ok prices, and I tried them all out today at the music store and have come to no clear decision. I mostly play blues (a little fuzz) classic rock, jazz, and the occasion heavy guitar, but I already have an amp to take care of the latter for me. thanks!

Keep going back to play em til 1 picks you. i use the exact same philosophy (and method,) to get guitar gear as I do to get a new pet.

I would go with the Blues Junior if I was you. A great all around amp.

It's pretty hard to beat the Super Champ XD. It has onboard effectsl (meaning you don't have to have a floor of pedals) and the voices are very good even at lower levels. DSP through a tube amp. Kind of the same as putting pedals through a tube amp (in a way - distortion is solid state). The amp sounds terrific.

Save up. I love my Blues Jr! Plenty loud when you need it and great in my living room.

Might check eBay for cheaper ones...

Hello Stratmastah!,

I believe your three choices are all
parlor amps, to cut it with a band your
gonna have to mic it through a PA.

Blues Jr is my #1 amp

Super Champ has a multitude of effects
at more attractive priceing.

Pro Junior priced in between the others
and just a damn nice little amp,
No frills on board with this one,
this'll be the next amp I buy.

My thoughts.

Cheers.

I have a blues jr and a vibrochamp xd. Like you I play a few styles and could quite happily ditch the blues jr but not the champ on a at home level. For any live work i'd be tempted to try one of the cyber series. The blues jr seems to be a one trick pony to me, a nice clean sound. If i want drive i go to another amp.

I guess it all comes down to what you need and what you can spend. The Blues Jr is a great amp and if you bring you're own FX it can be a relatively inexpensive route to great tube tone. The Pro Jr is much the same except the wattage (and the price) is lower, the speaker is smaller which affects your tone, and there is no onboard reverb, your most basic effect. The Super Champ XD could be a good choice if you don't have a lot of stomp boxes (I have the Vibro Champ XD and love it for practice and recording). The onboard DSP can save you some money.

As Mr. Bill warned, these amps may require you to mic them through your venue's PA to compete with the drums and the rest of the band which leaves you at the mercy of the PA's quality, but it also depends on the size of the venue, too. If you're going to go the Blues Jr route, you may want to save up a bit more and move up to the Blues Deluxe. It may be difficult to use your gigging amp in the bedroom if you're looking to get the same kind of overdriven tone you would get on stage. In any case, good luck!
