I`m very surprised that a new member is able to come up with a user name that has foul content. I would think the Fender adminstration would be able to block such user names. Some of the recent new comers who are obviously miserable with themselves, find it ok to use offending language as part of their names. We have many young kids and women who visit the forums daily. I would think there would be a way to avoid a new member from coming up with something as offending as I`ve seen over the past few weeks. I think we all know who I`m talking about so there`s no need to post that name here. I`m certain Brad will lock the thread and ban the user as soon as he`s aware of the recent posts. But something needs to be done to prevent people from using foul language as part of their user name. I`m old school ( 60 ), and I don`t think it`s right to offend women and children because your having a bad day.

Hi JPD: considering some of the words the filtering software censors it certainly is surprising a couple of the ones it lets through, isn't it?

Regarding the posts in question, unfortunately, it seems the children get up earlier than the adults on a Saturday morning...

I have a sneaking suspicion that we are playing right into their hands by talking about them. Therefore, I think we should stop. Just my $0.02.

This "person" is not a kid but is a racist. Those comments don't belong anywhere and seem to come from someone that needs some serious help.

I hope everthing works and they can resolve their issues.

Totaly.

It seems that they have come a long way in their personal development though. Can you imagine how time consuming it must be to type a post whilst bashing a keyboard with your knuckles?
I'm suprised they have the time inbetween all the 'how to lace your doc martins' lessons.

Its time membership became more selective. I hate the discrimination that in itself poses but enough is enough. :(

It is sad enough that we even need something like that, a filtering software for the few ignorant people who ruin the perfectly fine things in life.

the Jerm, I know you are right but you don't ignore it by posting a reply on that thread. You only bring it up again.

I guess that all we can do is try to monitor and report such abuse. I am sure Brad will catch it, but it is a big Forum. It is a shame that people cannot use better judgement when it comes to stuff like that. The world is full of haters. I like this Forum and would hate to see somebody ruin it for the reast of us.

In defense of Brad and Fender, you have to understand that this may be a limitation of the technology being used for the forum - phpBB. I just tried to go to their web site to check the documentation to see if this is even possible (I doubt that it is) and their web site is down temporarily due to a malicious attack! This is just the world in which we live today. Things aren't always pretty and we can't always protect ourselves from exposure.

The bottom line is - No doubt Brad and Fender are committed to making this the best it can be, and I'm sure they're just as concerned and doing the best they can.

... interestingly enough, the software I use to host blues republic does in fact have a username filter - it will reject any new username that contains anything in the filter's "naughty" list. Maybe phpBB has this too and it just needs to be activated?
