Gotta admit The Yardbirds were good with both Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton :D and then some of Eric Claptons solo music.

Those mentioned are all great and different.

Beatles were a great pop band, good writers.

The Who I never really liked.

Clapton is good, though I never considered him a good blues player.

Page is one of my favorites. I loved the guitar lines he came up with.

Gilmore and May are great guitar players. Fleetwood Mac is american.

Oasis was ok, Noel was the whole band in my opinion. Liam needs to be publicly beaten though. Repeatedly.

The Darkness should be treated to razor blades and lemon juice.

I liked The Outfield, well some of their songs.

Whenever I see a question like this, I think back to the old Israeli joke (lived there for 3 years, and Israelis are very loquacious) that if you put 10 Israelis in a room to talk about a topic, you'll end up with 25 opinions!
In the case of this, I'm sure there will be many more because it is too open a question...best musicians? best vocalists? best lyrics?, best stage presence?...and so on. The correct answer, actually is _________

The original Fleetwood Mac - Peter Green, Jeremy Spencer, Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, and later Danny Kirwan - were and are very, very British. Green, Fleetwood, and McVie all came out of John Mayall's Bluesbreakers.
As did Eric Clapton, Mick Taylor, Johnny Almond, Keef Hartley, Coco Montoya, Walter Trout, Jack Bruce, Aynsley Dunbar, Andy Fraser, Harvey Mandel, Larry Taylor, Sugarcane Harris, and others too numerous to mention.
Which is why my favorite two British bands are
John Mayall's Bluesbreakers and
Wishbone Ash.

Difficult one this, we've produced quite a lot of great bands but to name a few of my favourites over the years.
The Yardbirds, The Animals, The Who, The Stones, Fleetwood Mac, Jethro Tull, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, Cream, Led Zep....and on....and on....... :D

Very interesting. I don't think I ever knew there was a "Fleetwood Mac" before Buckingham and Nicks were in it and recorded Rumors. I would consider it the band after that landmark album.
