I was playing the other day and noticed an oddity about my self...
my mouth moves when I play. I have noticed that in a few guitar players are a lot worse than me , (think Robert Cray).
I wonder......................why? Anyone else :?:

My mouth moves like crazy when I play. Somehow, I'm not aware of it either. When people notice, it doesn't take long for that wild laughter to set in. Doesn't bother me though, not something to make a big stink about. Not worth getting too embarrassed over something you can't control, after all. :P

My Mouth moves when I'm playing but not when I'm singing. It's maddening  J/K I'm not sure, I'll have to look next time I'm playing.

Not at all........but then......I'm an emotionless kinda guy. I was originally a drummer.......I kinda had an open mouth thing going.......that but went away.

Hello Jayro,

I know when I'm trying to learn a new
piece of music it's moving and expressing
nasty comments to myself.

Cheers.

Mine doesn't, but I've been told I look very serious and grim when I play. I figure I'm just concentrating. I know I smile when I hit a wrong note or chord.

Don't feel bad. The lead guitar player in my band always gets on my case, because I'm so serious when I play. He wants me jumping around and such. I just remind him of Bill Wyman of the Stones who was also very serious.

Yes, both on guitar and drums. I didn't even notice it until one day I did it and my friends started laughing. I guess that's what I get for trying to play Pride and Joy in front of people...

Come to think of it, I hope it was the faces, not the guitar playing, that they were laughing at...

And I've seen video & film of the Stones where at some point Wyman does crack a smile or chuckle a bit. I figure he either just made a mistake, or Mick ripped his pants.

My tongue swirls around madly inside my mouth when I play something I'm not completely safe with.
