It was used but in very good shape, that's where I'm looking now anyway..... :D

I bought a customshop 2 weeks ago for £1K. Bit of a bargain but i do feel like a mercenary.

Maybe so Ninja but we're giving them what they want ( or ok need ) and they're giving us what we want.
But I know were you're coming from and understand, I honestly felt a tinge myself but it's the times and if we hadn't bought somebody else would have.
It's kinda sad but it's how it is just now. The way of the world....... :(

Wrong attitude Niki. I look at it this way:

I am lucky to not be afraid for my job. But other guitar players aren't as lucky. They will be in pretty tight to be selling their gear, I know things would have to be really rough for me to start selling. so if they have gear for sale, it means either they really need the money more than the gear, or that they aren't super attached to it anyway.

Either way, if I buy the guitar, it goes to a player who will love it, and hug it, and give it a good home.

Look at it as getting a guitar, but also helping someone meet the household budget, maybe buying that guitar kept them from being evicted for a couple months, and an extra chance to find some kind of financial solution.

I'm glad I got my MiM Strat last year when they were still $400. Now they've at least got to be around $500-$700. I know already the American Std.'s here have jumped from $999 to $1250 (didn't include tax). What a pity.

:(

True, but one less guitar is a lot better than no roof, or no food.

very funny ha ha ha if its a fender it plays i saw five telecasters at a pawn shop two weeks ago three of them black the other two blue $99. each i have a fender so i don't need one right now ( i enter the contests though maybe i'll get lucky or whatever) the high priced stuff good wishes i want fender to keep their business successful that may seem a bit selfish but in the words of the late delaney&bonnie "only you know and i know".

I just looked at GC online and the prices seem to be the same. In fact, in the new GC mailer, the deluxe players strat is only 599, down from 629. But I guess you could get 10% off anyways which would be less thatn 599. I don't see how one retailer effects all the retailers and their prices. Maybe complaining to Best Buy would be better. Best Buy doesn't seem like a musical instrument store to me I wouldn't be surprised if they stopped selling guitars. When you say Best Buy I think TVs, washers and dryers, stereos and dvd/cd and other electronic stuff like that (computers) but not electric guitars. They may as well sell shoes. Just my opinion.

Okay, I just checked the price of a 52 vintage tele at Musicians Friend, it is still $1499.99, I just checked the same tele at Best Buy and its $1840.99. And the twin reverb shot up to $1670.00, The American standard tele in natural went from 1099 to a whopping $1420.99. COMMON FENDER, WHAT THE HELL???? OVER A 30% INCREASE, GIVE US ALL A BREAK. That much of a price increase is just rediculous.

We're waiting for that link to Row Your Boat on YouTube, FirstMeasure! Show us your mandolin!

My 1 year old daughter loves that song and will derive great pleasure from the video as will I.

Dont worry Firstmeasure, we'll be singing along and doing the actions too. Albeit in our livingroom and not with 10,000,000 strong audience members.

Boy am I glad I got what I wanted when I did!

No more GAS for me, wife losing her job and me getting a nice pay decrease to keep mine this year went a long way towards killing any future acquisition plans for a long time to come.

Well I have GAS  , just cannot act on it. I really like the new Dave Murray Sig. Strat, but it is way out of my price range for now. I do have some instability in my current job, but I should be able to recover rather quickly if push came to shove. I am putting away for a rainy day, but if there is a change with the current economy I will get that STRAT. :)

I'm more than willing, but I compared Musicians Friend, Guitar Center, and Sam ash before and after Feb 1st, and saw no increase. I didn't compare Musicians friend before Feb 1st to Best Buy after Feb 1st. That's just an uncontrolled experiment. If anyone documented Best Buys prices before and after Feb 1st I'd be glad to Row my Boat, but I didn't even know Best Buy sold instruments online.

I just looked again, and prices on Most amps and Guitars have stayed the same, and absolutly nothing went up on or after Feb 1st. Deluxe Players Strats went up a little the Beginig of January due to popularity (well before Feb 1st or any mention of a Fender price hike), but then Powerhouse Strats and Nashville Teles came down the begining of Jan, due to unpopularity. On Feb. 3rd I called Guitar Center to find out if they'd had a Price Increase on anything Fender in the store.
I had to ask twice 'cause the Girl at GC didn't have any Idea what I was talking about, "What model?" she asked me. "No model, just Fender in general. Amps, Guitar, Picks, Straps, anything", I said.
"No", She said.
"Are you Sure?" I asked.
"Yes," she said, "I'd have been changing price tags all day if there was

So, I'd be more than happy to pay up on the bet, but hey, I didn't lose. Unless someone can show me differently, there has been no Price Hike. Unless I really missed something, I haven't seen an "Across The Board Price Hike" anywhere.
