Okay, I just checked the price of a 52 vintage tele at Musicians Friend, it is still $1499.99, I just checked the same tele at Best Buy and its $1840.99. And the twin reverb shot up to $1670.00, The American standard tele in natural went from 1099 to a whopping $1420.99. COMMON FENDER, WHAT THE HELL???? OVER A 30% INCREASE, GIVE US ALL A BREAK. That much of a price increase is just rediculous.

well, as we all know, the economy is in pretty bad shape.

Think about it this way: would you rather have a 30% price increase, or let Fender go bankrupt? I mean sure, that's a long way off, but they still need to make a profit.

Hopefully the recession will be over in a year or two.

Price increases are a misnomer when no body buys.

Just venting my friends, I still plan on doing my part to help stimulate the economy. I'm going to buy one anyway. :D

3 words:
Music Industry Bailout.

I know Larry Flynt and some other adult entertainment execs were going to, or have already asked for a p0rn0 industry bailout...

Boy am I glad I got what I wanted when I did!

No more GAS for me, wife losing her job and me getting a nice pay decrease to keep mine this year went a long way towards killing any future acquisition plans for a long time to come.

Do what I am doing... Switch brands. I've become very pleased with easwood and dipinto lately. I'd rather give my money to a smaller company anyways. Besides, there are a lot of lower-priced "more guitar for you dollar" models out there.

Sweetwater's prices went up 2 Days ago online so my guess is the others will be real soon. Give them a few more day at most. I to feel that such a large increase seems way out of line, who no's maybe theres more behind it then we no.

I already have a bunch of Fenders, so last week I went on e-bay and picked up a Gibson black SG Standard for £575, maybe that is one place worth checking out these days. People feeling the pinch and selling guitars off at good prices.
It was used but in very good shape, that's where I'm looking now anyway..... :D

I bought a customshop 2 weeks ago for £1K. Bit of a bargain but i do feel like a mercenary.

It's a used guitar buyer market. Lots of them on CL and eBay, some of them are not even overpriced anymore. I picked up a 5F1 for $300 on eBay and I have my eye on a 1979 SG for $550 on CL.
