I had a look over the dark side earlier. Seems the instigator of this gets no respect anywhere. I wonder why?
Take a look at this.

Im sorry to say that the billy smarts circus reject is a fellow countryman of mine. Just goes to show what absolute knuckledraggers the uk can produce at times eh.

I check their site every once in awhile and they send me their newsletter. I believe Gibson was feeling some pressure to make improvements to their site because of the competition (read: Fender). They're feelin' the heat!

Oh, I thought you actually meant the Fender owned "Brand X"...

I could care less what other forums think. If I did, I'd be over there instead o here.

There's no rule or law that people can't enjoy, own & play more than one brand of guitar, and no rule or law that you can't participate in more than one forum. So what's it really matter?

I post at least semi-regularly on three guitar forums, and every once in a while on a few others. I see no point in any us vs them that way. If you only like it here--great. If you like it better elsewhere-great. If you like it here & elsewhere-great. This forum is here, others are out there.

Be grateful for the variety.

Yeah, they really ripped "us" off. There were never any web-based forums before Fender.com, and nobody ever called it a "lounge". We don't really believe that, do we?

I was in online forums in 1990 on Prodigy, and there were a ton of "lounges". Who cares anyway?

Prodigy? I remember that, Compuserve, NEC, and Amigas...d*mmit I am old-ish  I was just thinking yesterday about how you don't see the word SYSOP too much any more...

I was going to chime in about dialing into BBSs at 2400 bps and being shown the stunning ANSI welcome screens...

...but it seems there's enough old-timers in here already. ;)

... and I won't even mention my old Tandy TRS80, or the Apple IIe with the lovely green screen, or the Coleco blip football, or Intellivision, or the electronic Merlin game, or taping a string to a quarter so I can play Tempest and Stargate all day. No sir. I will not mention those things.

Gosh, I was a late bloomer. I didn't start computing till '96 on a used pentium 100 with Windows 3.1 (I can't remeber the modems Baud rate, but It was fast enough to play stellar crisis). If only I'd gotten that Commodore 64 when I was a kid.....

My first home computer was a Texas Instruments TI-99 circa 1984.

The computer I used at work in 1978 had no monitor. You typed in your request on green bar paper and the computer typed the answer back. It took awhile.

The Atari was the same deal although it had a game cartrige input on the keyboard/motherboard. Who would have thought millions could be made on games cartriges let alone a GUI called "Windows". I guess I missed that boat.

For the record it wasn't me. Although I was researching the Gibson site about BucketHead's baritone LP. That's an interesting concept because it uses thicker strings on a lower tunning. The fret spacing is probably like a Fender. Also the guitar is oversize because BucketHead is huge and the Jackson he played looked tiny. They won't give any specs on it but the comments from the forum about signatures made me very upset with Gibson.

first of all i doubt the gibson lounge is copied from the fender lounge, (it's actually much better, not as controled and more fun)

but secondly there was never any war thing and californiaman (who is from the gibson forum) did not start it. it was actually some person from here at the fender forum who came over to the gibson forum and made a profile named "i love fender" and then said "i declare war on gibson" he then told us to send posts back an fourth between the two forums. so it wasn't actually california man who was a knucklehead, it was one of you guys ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage
