I know that there are a lot of people on the Forum out of or about to be out of a job. I heard today the worst words that can be said from an employer in the medical field, "we want to consolidate offices." I am really tired with this "do more with less" mentality that people in offices who do not work with the patients/customers keep trying to push on the everyday worker.

I work for a group of Pulmonologists. We in turn work for a "bigger" company. The bottom line is that one doctor is not making the money they once did (well duh they used to be the only game in town until my doctor came on board). Now they want to combine offices and cut the fat. That means that I will either have to cut the throat of a friend of mine to keep my job, or bow out. As I mentioned we are part of a bigger group and I could "float" until another position opens. I really like my Doctor and really do not want to stop working for him, but I DO NOT want to work for the other doctor at all, which is what they are suggesting. This situation sucks.

There is no need to respond, I was just venting. I'll stop sobbing now and figure out the best option and just go for it like I always have in the past. No throat slicing either.

Your right. I will make them choose the one they want and not just bow out. Like I mentioned, I can "float" around until another gig opens.

Terrible economy we`re in and its forcing people to take drastic measures. I`m not affected because I`m retired but I feel bad for all the people who are hurting because of corporate greed and mortage companies that put people into homes they couldn`t afford in the first place. I wish you all luck in finding work that brings enough income to support your families.

Things are bad indeed! forunately being in the service industry I'm somewhat safe from recession. But have tons of friends and relatives who have been forced out of work. I've even gone so far as to employ as many of them as I could, regardless of experience.

Whats worse, is that it will likely be several months before we see any government actions (assuming that these are successful) trickle down to the consumer level. What exactly does this mean? It means that things will likely get worse before we see any improvement.

In times like these the best anyone can do is tighten the proverbial belt and learn to appreciate the simple things in life. There were times when I began my adult life that my wife and I were so poor we had to save up to be broke. But honestly, those were some of the happiest days of my life to this point.

you know what makes me mad? When the employer is making money, and has work , and using the excuse of a bad economy to cut wages, benefits etc. from it's employees because they know the employee will not leave! All they have to do is say" oh it's the economy" while lining their pockets.....Sorry about the decision you have to make, just make sure you do what you feel is right.

All this goes in line, with what I said in the post about Fender prices going up by quite a bit. They maybe be in for a surprise with lower sales.

Job cuts at Fender - no! I hope Brad lets us know if he hears anything, we could start a petition in his support.

The ammount of interest in new fender products this site generates makes me think Brad's position is quite secure

But yep, he's got my signature on a petition.

Thankfully, working in the nursing field, my job is safe, but I do agree, the economy is horrible right now. At my wife's workplace, they just let go 10% of the employees and the rest of them along with the ceos, all were forced to take a 5% paycut. I just hope that things start to get better within the next couple of years.
My job is safe too, but I also hope things turn around soon. we all know they eventually will, but sooner is much better than later.

Bad as this seems though, I am hoping the downturn frees up some gear from people's collections that i can buy.

Geez RK sorry to hear about the choices forced on you; at least you have choices. Medical services whether they are administrative, medical, or technical are an in demand skill set that should keep you employed in the long run.

I'm with Twelve Bar on the collection thing... I've been scouring Craig's List and EBAY for some decent deals... Hope we don't bid against each other... 8)
