I just watched the video again, I haven't seen it since it was in rotation. I have to say, I really like Squire, but damn, if I don't think he deserved all the damage that did to his career.

I don't recall the video in question, but I sure don't want to torture myself by finding it and viewing it after what all of you have said about it!

Let me keep a good image of Billy in my mind!
I wish I hadn't seen it. Sadly that song came on the radio at work today, and I burst out laughing, I can't get that image out of my head when I hear that now.

I hope everyone that green lighted that got fired.

No way, no how, not now! Ha!

Here's the way I'm going to remember Squier, though when this happened I didn't even know his name: this group called Piper was the opening act at some concert. For their first 15 minutes, there was this singer, bass, drums, and two guitarists. They were okay. Then the singer straps on a guitar and plays the lead for the last 15 minutes of their set. I remember thinking, wow, if that singer can play like that, why does the group have these two other guitarists?

Later on, I found their album in the cut-out bins for just pennies (and I learned their names), and later after that this Billy Squier guy is all over the radio, etc ....

Bad choice in a video concept? Oh hell yeah.

Talented guy? Without a doubt. He was a great writer, had a great singing voice (I wish I could sing like him, I'll be honest), pretty good guitar player, and did very well for himself.

In the case of this video, the joke seems to be on some of you....
It's typical Squire parody...
Case in point would be the video for the song " She Goes Down "
As far as this having torpedoed his career... :?:
How about just getting sick and tired of living on the road and taking time....
Musical taste of the public also change, as for the critics, most are just trying to circulate a periodical....

Billy is still around, playing where and when he chooses...
Seems like.... " He Who Laughs Last, Laughs Best " ...

Just my opinion here, but Billy's downfall had nothing to do with MTV. His problem was very similar to many others ... He could not keep up the the quality of his material. In my opinion, guitar playing is the easy part, as it is SONGWRITING that really separates the wheat from the chafe. The quality of his material took a steep nose dive after those couple of albums with all his hits.

And a lot of bands can only come up with one great album.

Sometimes not even that ... some times it is just one great song.

Eddie Trunk form, That Metal Show said once that he is one of the few who saved his money,

and is now well off.

Nobody would have guessed that, looking at the prancing video
