Well, I found these wonderfully cheap pedals by Danelectro called Fab pedals, they are only $15 a pop, and they have some pretty cool effects. They are individual stomp boxes, such as a metal effect, chorus, etc. I was just wondering if anybody has any experience with these, I have read great reviews about them and was just wondering what you guys thought... Any answers appreciated.

I use the fish&chips eq and the surf&turf compressor. Love em. there are better pedals but not at those prices. Great gigging gear.

I have tried them out on several occasions, but found the plastic enclosures too flimsy. I would be afraid of breaking them under regular use. They sounded okay for the cost.

They sound OK, but they have no resale value. I couldn't get rid of mine for $5, which means I'm still stuck with them.

I have 3 of them - The Chrous, the Echo and the Flange.

They do seem flimsy, but I've owned them for almost 2 years, and only 1 of them has died. The Flange just stopped working. The Echo and the Chorus are still working fine.

When I have some spare cash, I'll pick up something to replace them - till then, they work and sound OK, and since I don't play out, I'm not really worried about how robust they are - they work OK in my bedroom studio :P

I'd be more worried about a expensive pedal than a cheapie getting damaged gigging. After all bust a £100 pedal replace a £100 pedal. Bust a £10 pedal replace a £10 pedal, no problemo.

You do get what you pay for with em though.

I have the chorus and I think it is excellent, especially at that price.

I also got a Danelectro '59 and am amazed at the sound of it :D :D :D

I've had my Dano "Tuna Melt" tremelo unit for several years now. Yes, it's a light duty pedal, but it did everything I wanted it to do and since I don't gig anymore, the plastic housing isn't much of a concern. It sounds good, but it's not that difficult for a tremelo to sound good.

My Question: Who dreams up those whacko names?

I've got a Dano Cool Cat, and it's great. I would rather you spend 30 or so more and get a cool cat than a FAB, because it's all metal and true bypass, but whatever. I would say, though, if you're hurting on cash, why not?

I just got my son a FAB Metal for his birthday so we'll see how that works out.

They are fantastic for the price.

You can buy better built and more versatile pedals, but the Danelectro line is a great "bang for the buck" value.

A great way of trying out different sounds without spending hundreds on pedals... obviously won't last a lifetime of gigging, but great value for money.
