Hi Chet, That's a great bit of History. I didn't know that about Fleetwood Mac's name. I knew they came from the Bluesbreakers, but I assumed it was all Micks Idea. But when you listen to early Mac it's all Peter Greens playing and singing. Only when Mick and MacVie replaced green with Buckingham did Fleetwood Mac become Mick Fleetwoods Baby, which explains their extreme sound change.

Now It All Makes Sense :)

I just learned all of that recently too.

There was a couple of name changes so that is possible.

Turns out Mick Fleetwood has a side project called Mick Fleetwood Blues Band. My mistake.

Guys this site explains all the varying changes of fleetwood mac.

Initaily Bob Brunning played bass. He never got the credit he deserved in my opinion.

Lindsay is a tremendous player i like rumours, tango and tusk. But i lost a good bit of interest when danny left. Wish i'd heard more of the rick vito stuff thats said to be a partial return to the blues roots of the band.

Fleetwood Mac had a Bob Welch phase in between Green leaving and Buckingham/Nicks joining. I wanted to buy some tracks from Amazon, but they were unavailable. Always liked atmospheric stuff like "Hypnotized".

Hi Ninja,
Weren't the original Orange amps produced from the Mat-amp company.
I had one of those early Orange amps and it felt like they had a strong throw on those things. I was able to crank it up occasionally in a room that allowed it and man they had awesome power and great sound.
Woah !! I miss that thing.
Cheers...... :D

Dunno if they were made by matamp originaly i was under the impression they were hand made by the original designer and his hoppo in the back of a shop. Much like early marshalls.

I remember reading a interview with Cliff Cooper where he stated that marshall plexi's always sounded louder than his amps which lead him to develop the OD 120 and the 200watt greeny used. Even the OD120 didnt sound as loud as the 1959Plexi so he took em both to a proffesor at cambridge to analyze why. The prof measured em the orange on full tilt was knocking out just shy of 140 watts the marshall was 76. Cliff asked the profs opinion as to why the marshall still sounded louder. A few weeks later the Prof got back intouch with Cliff and explained his theory that the human ear perceives distortion as pain. So the brain focus's on the marshall as a source of pain, not the orange which would stay clean till way up on the volume.

Sound like your amp Rhumba? Clean up to 8? :D

[EDIT] After a bit of checking matamp produced the od120 heads for orange. Sometime during 72 orange were outselling marshall.

Bob Welch was underrated too Steve. He and Christine Perfect pulled that band through a very hard time. Its fair to say they wouldnt of lasted without either of them.

He had a hit or two after he went solo and then seemed to disappear. I really liked him.

The band would not have survived without Bob Welch. From 1971 to 1975, from "Future Games" to "Heroes are Hard to Find" he provided strong musical and business direction. And I like those albums (also "Penguin" and "Mystery to Me")
And what pissed me off - when they were inducted into the Hall of Fame - he got stiffed - the only former member not invited to attend.

He fronted a band called Paris for a while after that. Then he went solo and redid Hypnotized and Sentimental Lady.

I think a lot of the previous members mistreatment was down to lindsey buckingham. I have it on good authority that he felt somewhat overshadowed by stevie nicks's prolific songwriting abilities and subsequent predominance within the band. Its a shame because the blokes got nothing to fear from anyone. I dont think Mac would be the world conquering money machine they are today without him.
After looking at alot of mac orientated stuff today i discovered the ever charismatic Christine Perfect/Mcvie doesnt live too far from me and frequents a local village pub quite frequently. I may see if i can get her to sign my chest

Yeah, that does sound like mine did. I didn't often get the chance to crank it right up but it did hold it's tone and didn't break up much.
Great for blues and if I needed overdrive and dist. I had an array of stomp boxes.
Yeah, I thought I could recall matamp had an involvement early on.
Cheers.... :D

Hi Ninja., do you mean Buckingham felt overshadowed by Nicks? That doesn't seem right since Buckingham wouldn't join Mac without Nicks. They were already playing and writing together in thier own group "Buckingham-Nicks" when Mick recruited Buckingham, so he was fully aware of her writing and performing abilities. It was Buckingham and Nicks personal relationship ending that caused friction between the two. In fact it's a testimony to Mick for keeping the whole thing together for Tusk.
