niki,
My lovely lady surprised me last night with a gift. Fleetwood Mac, Live at the Boston Tea Party 1970, Volumes 1 and 2 (she could not find volume 3 at a reasonable price).

Good god - for an old Mac/Green fan like myself almost orgasmic. 24 minutes version of Rattlesnake Shake, 12 minutes of Green Manilishi where Peter ends up playing the last few minutes on 6 string bass.

Encore Jam - the opening act comes out to join them for a 13 minute song - the opening act was the James Gang with Joe Walsh...

I don't want to go to work today. I want to stay home and listen again. Peter Green, Danny Kirwan, and Jeremy Spencer are just lighting it up....

Jeremy Spencer is back gigging again somewhat smoother on top.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btgwtqHMFE4&feature=related
He is accompanied to gigs by the children of god cult that first led him away. They use it as a recruiting/fund raising opportunity from what i managed to find out.

Danny Kirwan unforyunately is still suffering with alcoholism and doesnt play anymore, claiming to have forgot how . A sad sad loss to music.

It was for the tea party gigs that they struck a deal with the newly formed orange amplification. It was something like we'll have the amps off you for nothing, you pay the shipping and we'll reimburse orange when we get back. The stiffed orange amps for the money. But apparently thats what you can hear on those recordings. Sounds very different to modern orange doesnt it.

If you enjoy Peter Green, then I strongly recommend you check out Snowy White, if you haven't already.
He kinda picks it up were Greenie left off in the early 70's. His later stuff is particularly tasty.

Hi Ninja,
Weren't the original Orange amps produced from the Mat-amp company.
I had one of those early Orange amps and it felt like they had a strong throw on those things. I was able to crank it up occasionally in a room that allowed it and man they had awesome power and great sound.
Woah !! I miss that thing.
Cheers...... :D

I should have known that you were already ahead of me and aware of these recordings.....

If you delve a little deeper you will find that Peter Green, Mick Fleetwood and John MacVie were all part of John Mayall's Bluesbreakers at the same time. Because of drinking and drugs Mayall was getting ready to fire band members. Peter Green asked Fleetwood and MacVie to join the band he wanted to form. And promised to name the band after them, thus the name Peter Green's Fleetwod Mac!

Yes, I know the band was named after Fleetwood and Macvie but I can only remember the band being simply ' Fleetwood Mac '
To my recolection, it was later, when Greenie left and the band went into the Stevie Nicks pop-ish phase, they kept the name 'Fleetwood Mac'.
And when we refer back now, to Greenie's time, to avoid confusion, we call the old band ' Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac '
But, of course I could be completely wrong about this......
Cheers... :D

Hi Chet, That's a great bit of History. I didn't know that about Fleetwood Mac's name. I knew they came from the Bluesbreakers, but I assumed it was all Micks Idea. But when you listen to early Mac it's all Peter Greens playing and singing. Only when Mick and MacVie replaced green with Buckingham did Fleetwood Mac become Mick Fleetwoods Baby, which explains their extreme sound change.

Now It All Makes Sense :)

Wasn't it called The Fleetwood Mac Blues Band before Buckingham/Nicks joined?
