The J. Geils Band will reunite, February 19th, to christen the new House of Blues on Lansdowne Street in Boston.

It will be the band's first headline gig in 10 years - and the return of the House of Blues after six.

The band's original lineup - Peter Wolf, Magic Dick, Seth Justman, Danny Klein and J. Geils - will perform for this one night only.

They last performed at a surprise one-off reunion at Klein's 60th birthday party at Scullers Jazz Club in 2006. Their last official gig was in 1999 at the Orpheum benefit for the Worcester firefighters and Cam Neely Foundation.

Cool. I've heard a couple of shows from their last reunion. Almost 10 years ago already! Man, does time fly.

Hopefully a taper will be at that Boston show and it'll hit the web ...

Be very nice to see that band though.

Actually, J. Geils didn't sing. Peter Wolf was the singer. :)

Oh man, Niki - nowhere near their best stuff. Way too commercial. At their best, they were Detroit-style R&B.

Check out the 1976 live album "Blow Your Face Out". THAT'S J. Geils...

You got to give it to me.....

I was a big fan of the J. Geils Band. I saw them a couple of times back in the seventies. :D About ten years ago I went to see them at a local jazz club. The only originals were J. Geils and Magic Dick. They played Rockabilly stuff all night. They were good, but the crowd wanted to hear the old J. Geils songs. :? But for their encore Magic Dick took center stage and played "Wammer Jammer" and people went nutz! I sure would like to see the original line up play together again.

Here's Peter Wolf performing at M.I.T. and I believe that's Duke Levine on guitar...
