I've just got my first ever maple-necked guitar (72 Tele Deluxe), and I understand that cleaning a maple neck is different to standard rosewood necks (which I use a lemon oil based cleaners on). How is it so? What products/oils/polishes/etc can and can't I use to bring out the full beauty of my new instrument?

The rosewood fingerboards are unfinished, so need to be oiled occasionally to moisten the wood to prevent problems caused by becoming overly dry.

The maple fingerboards are usually finished and the oil doesn't penetrate that, but they do need to be cleaned of body oils and grime periodically. I'd just use the same conditioner and polish you use on the rest of the guitar, after first wiping the big chunks off with something like Mist & Wipe.
