No Tom, The robberies were not happeneing from listing our equiptment here. Its happening from thieves knowing where to look. As Bow mentioned to me, that by listing what I have in my signature lets others know what I have in my home and could be a problem if someone looks here to see what people have.

As you know JPD, Brooklyn is a big place. The odds of someone finding you with location and user name would be a great feat. I took my equipment off my signature due to being asked if it was Garage Sale stuff, again being picked apart by another member. (I love this forum except the occasional wild post here and there). I do thank you for the warning about thieves. That is Forum members looking after Forum members.

I had an amp stolen from a rehersal space. The thieves broke through a rear wall and stole all the bands equipment. Luckily, I took my guitar with me... but, I lost a Vibrolux Reverb.

Recently... I had someone bang on my door at 2am. I was still up watching a movie. I looked out, and saw a guy wearing a hoodie. He said, "Let me in!... It's Chuck!" He wouldn't leave, so I called 911. The Police had him out there for awhile. Later on I learned that he was visiting a neighbor and was out partying. His ride just dropped him off, and he was so out of it that he went to the wrong house.

I really didn't buy it, though. Not at the time, anyway...

rk..I was only too glad to help but didn`t expect the feedback that I got. I figured it might give people a heads up on whats going on around the country right now.
dbrodie...I bet Chuck will make sure he`s at the right house from now on but you did the right thing. You never know what people are up to.

Here's an article on thefts in NJ. In the house invasion they mention which was particularly brutal, the guitars were owned by Rob Paparozzi's son, Jared.
Rob is a harp player and has fronted recently for Blood Sweat and Tears.

I can't help but think that at least in that case, these scumbags knew what they were looking for and where to find it.

Makes you wonder if the bad guys are hanging out at jams and gigs and then following home guys they want to rip off at a later date. I 've started to leave the "good gear" at home when I go to open mics/jams and make sure I'm aware of my surroundings and who's around me.

Here in Texas you have to post no trespassing signs on the property first, that way if they get out of your house with your stuff (but still on the property) you can still shoot them. Oh, and beware of dog signs on the fence, in case the dog gets them in the backyard. That way they cannot sue you when the dog rips them a new butt. Once they are in the house, they are fare game regardless.

I like the Texas way of thinking......................

Though I'm not good enough to be in a band, I am out on the road alot.
what I normally do is use my Washburn on the road and play my Fenders at home...If they steal the piece of @#$%^ from my room, I lost(pawn shop value)around 75.00-100.00. not as huge of a loss as losing my Strats. I really think it would be a good idea if I took out an insurance policy on them.
