i was in the market for a blues junor or other small valve amp but on testing them out i noticed some things that make them unsuitable for me:

1. you have to crank them to get a nice tone and even a small 15w valve amp at 4-5 volume is super loud. too loud to use in an apartment.

2. they dont have headphone jacks

because of thses issues im just going to have to get a small solid state modeling amp. I get some decent recommendations for the Roland Cube 15, 20 and 30.

I need something i can dial a sweet blues tone into . anyone got any other recommnedations?

I have a Roland Micro Cube. It has some effects built in and has a headphone jack. Not bad for an amp the size of a car battery. Go to your music store and try out a few travel amps, thats the only way to make your decision.

I got myself a Line6 Microspider which I play my Tele through.

For low volume practice its pretty good. I can even take it outside if I want to annoy the neighbour's dog :D as it can run on batteries.

I can get some pretty cool tones out of it and it also has an "acoustic" amp model which actually doesn't sound too bad when running an acoustic through it. it also has headphone socket and MP3 input and a built in tuner.

The only thing I don't like about it is that when I DO want to crank it, it can sound a bit harsh as it is after all, just a 6 watt amp with a 6.5" speaker.

That's why I also want to look at getting a VibroChamp XD - 5 watts of tube power with FX in a bigger unit with a bigger speaker for when I want to jam with someone else.

Cheers.

Pick up a used Fender Cyber-Champ or Cyber-Deluxe. Just a thought.
