I have decided that im going to compile a list of things all real men should know and skills they should have. Im 15 and have been working for my uncle who is the sales and distrubution(spelling?) manager at atomix boats in order to fund myself a highly overpriced fender stratocaster(i live in New zealand an american standard is $2300). I basiclly rig boats build trailers do some medium to heavy lifting take calls and attend to customers occasionally etc.
I have been working my $@! off(gotta work hard for your coin) and have learnt some important skills that my uncle thinks every man should have and stuff that men should know.

I now know
-how to open a beer bottle with a lighter
-how a 2 stroke engine works and a 4 stroke engine (intermediate level stuff)
-the advantages ov a v8 over a inline engine
-how to do wiring on a 7 pin trailer plug
-how nice commssion is (sold a trailer :D )

what else do i need to know/learn to do or other then to buy me a fender.

Must Understand the Importance of a Refrigerator. It keeps the Beer Cold and Houses the nubers of Pizza Joints and Chinese Take-out. Not to mention the Dogers Schedule (Spring is only a few month away) 8)

Gotta Have a Roll Around Tool Chest (and a small fridge in the garage)

Handle a Gun - Safley!!!!

Go from camping in surplus BDU's to Ball Room dancing in a Tuxedo on a moments notice, and make it to the Gig the next day, cause we all know.........

I strongly suggest you develop the bacon cooking skills.
Everyman likes his bacon cooked differently to everyone else.

Midnight, your uncle sounds like a decent bloke. Who'd of thought of a lighter/bottle opener. thats a great idea.

I read that list and realized that I don't know how to do any of that
But I do know how to use benches, tables, wall basicly anything with a outwart corner to open beer bottles.

But now I don't need it. My favourite beer brand (Carlsberg) recently started using a American invention (propably the best one from america yet) on their bottles. Twisty top class bottles caps. My life has never been as easy as now.

Americans are not that stupid after all :D

Hahahaha. It is good to know we are good for SOMETHING! :) That put a smile on my face NonniG! Thanks.

As for skills every man should know I would like to submit some others for consideration:

Changing the oil in a car

Changing a flat

Replacing a faulty light switch

Building a wood fire that doesn't go out

The importance of a play option pass for medium yard gains for a first down or touchdown.

The significance of an infield triple!

Proper application of BBQ sauce to food.

The ability to eat a hot dog while holding your favorite beverage in the other hand and standing up to cheer for your team simultaneously!

I also learned the beer opening trick with a lighter at a young age! That is a good skill to have! :)

How to do something of interest to the man ( read a book, watch TV, play guitar) while still adding the correct amount of "yes", "really", and "i always knew your work collegue was a b1tch" to the converstaion your partner thinks your having. This should become reflex so you can concentrate on the important thing your doing , all the will keeping your girl thinking your interested in what shes saying.

Gentlemen: very seriously, the most important skill any real man can learn is... to shut up and do as his wife tells him. She always knows best!

Cheers - C

When I was in the service I was stationed at a NATO base in Norway. The beer of choice there was Carlsberg. It was affectionately referred to simply as Charlie. It is indeed a refreshing beer.

In addition to the skills listed above I'd like to add:

-how to spin a warm beer for that 90 second chill

-Please his woman (If you dont do it someone else will)

-selective hearing (92.7% of what a woman says isnt worth listening to)

-selective memory (I dont recall telling you I'd clean out the garage???)

Now that you have all plowed through the standard 'good 'ol boy', jock strap, tailgate stuff' consider knowing how to engage the services of a really sharp family law attorney and having a prenuptual agreement drawn before you get married, AND having the @#$%^ insist on it as a condition to marriage.

Having listened to his mother on that score, my son's property settlement agreement was $3million as opposed to $10 million. Now I don't expect most of you to be looking at those kinds of numbers, but the concept may save your @#$ big time. 8)
