Every forum is this way, the struggle for the elite to have a perfect church environment, on someone else's forum that they don't even own. As long as it is open to everybody world wide, there is always going to be someone that isn't house broken, and there is always someone that is going to push the boundaries to see if the forum rules have any spine. It is nothing new. I have found people to be to thin skinned on forums, and can not take a little criticism, nobody ever got a black eye or a bloody nose over some print on a computer screen, as they set miles away, safe and sound in their own home. Some need to toughen up, this isn't church here.

Sure. His only offense was "making up stories" about the guitars he owned, IIRC. I don't recall any tirades or offensive language from him.

I feel like the forum has been quite "calm" over the last few months.
I can't remember the last truly explosive scene.

Yes, that was my impression too.

And anyhow, we need new blood. I love hearing from all the friendly familiar voices everyday, but this ain't just a social club for a few dozen regulars (well, not just... ). One of the most important functions is for beginners to get answers to important questions without getting talked down to. I think we're pretty good at that, 99 percent of the time.

Anyway, just wanted to add my vote to what everyone's saying here. Let's keep it friendly! Never occured to me that online forums could be for me - till I met this one...

What a great bunch of people, huh?

Cheers guys - C

The "international" character is great.

But I see there was some action this afternoon.
Check out the "(user banned)" thread

Quick action by the bucket brigade!

I think that is only half of it Brad. The other half is the large influx of new members caused by the kickoff contest. I think it is the combination of the new personalities and the 24 hour a day access that triggered it - I do not believe that just opening it up to 24 hour access would have had this effect.
Just my opinion...

Yes and no -- in terms of generating new 'regulars' to this area that promotion wasn't actually that wildly successful relative to several others we've done in the past. However, you're most definitely correct that timing it right at the same time as our 24-hour experiment has been a factor!

That said, these are inevitable growing pains of any forum so we'll have to weather them together. I *HAVE* to concoct promotions like the one we recently did as overall this community must remain thriving and growing -- increasing web traffic to FMIC sites is, after all, my primary reason for being at FMIC. :-)

I watched that one happening. "What's he on?" someone wrote. Seemed the right question.

What I missed was what Nikininja wrote and then quickly removed on the Strat Forum. I wonder what it was - does that fella need banning?

I'd hate to "HAVE" to see someone win a Telecaster, but if it helps the forum, you can go ahead and give one away. Maybe a nice Bound Cherry Burst job, and like a Tweed Blues Jr. for the second Place, and a Deck of Fender Lounge Playing Cards for Third Place.

You've been getting a tough time for several days. Trouble's been following you around, if you know what I mean...

This thread was a good way to address the situation. Kudos to you.

Cheers man - C

BTW. In case there's the slightest doubt: banning Nikininja (above) was very much a joke. I don't know what he wrote and removed, but that fella's very much one of the good guys...

Just to be clear, at this sensitive time.

Cheers - C

Yes it has been a lot of replies where people are giving there thoughts. I think it shows that this is a tight nit group and growing. I have no doubt that it does help in the marketing and sales of Fender products just as Brad was describing. Oh ya as someone said a Tele Give Away would be nice :D
