What happened to the Forum? It seem there are more and more people being antagonistic or just looking for a argument. Someone says something about a model then someone else uses it to Dis another model. I have seen people called Idiots, Fools, Chumps and more. I have no doubt that some who have been banned in the past have returned under new names because there same arguments are back again and being repeated over and over the same way as in the past. What happened to the being friendly with each other? If someone says something about a guitar you own and you don't agree well sometimes its best to let it slide its not personal so dont take it that way. The last two weeks have been bad for this stuff were this is better then that one then the same trilogy starts over almost word for word. Maybe that's why so many of the long time members have cut back ther posting or stopped all together. I am sure others have noticed that as well. Some of the things being repeated over and over and again and again makes me want to @uk&.... Well could be I am just having a bad day.

Gotta agree with you on this one mate. Theres a lot of negativity around.

Whether previously banned users are posting under new names, i have no opinion.

It's been a little hostile lately. I am trying not to get into any pissing matches on the Forum, but it is getting harder not to "offend" anybody anymore. I think that it will calm down in a little while. The experts say that this time of the year is hard on some people, (holidays over, taxes due, school is back in, deadlines are due, bills, somebody's boss on their butts, ect).

I am in no way, shape, or form an expert about guitars, amplifiers, ect... I just try to help people out with problems with my limited knowledge in this field. Some times I help, sometimes I do not, but I always learn something new on this Forum everyday...that is the reason I come here every night.

Brush it off lads. Keep smiling and refusing to lose your temper. We'll be zen masters soon enough eh?

Rkreisher, your totally right mate, were all feeling the pinch. Leniency is a good trait to develop

I'm kinda new round here, And I'm under the impression that we're all into different things, Have different taste, And value different Musical disciplins.

I Know that My Opinion is not a "Truth", just an opinion.

But Beleifs are personell, And I'll never Blog on here about illuminating Chakra's , 9-11 Truth, or Supermassive Black Holes. That's what Myspace is for!!.

And sure, I think Ted Nugent is a Grade-A A hole , But I'm not gonna hate on His Fans, or even his Music!!

I don't expect You all to enjoy Korn, or Hip Hop, but Don't hate on Me for Lovin It! And I don't think Anyone here deserves to be treated like Crap for having a Opinion.

It's 2009 Ya'all, Can we erase the Hating allready?

Good Post cvilleira! Beleive in Karma !

Anyone wanna share other opinions with Me?
I'm open minded.

I will add to rkreisher's list that in some parts of some countries at this time of year, not to be North-America-centric or anything, but in some places, the weather is pretty challenging, and we know we're in for a few more months of it without relief, so that can make people grumpy as well.

Coincidentally, I went to an event last night that featured a guy playing original songs on acoustic, and he also talked about his work with the Compassionate Listening project, which goes into war-torn areas like Bosnia and Palestine and encourages people to listen to each other's stories without judgement. He gave a quote from the founder of the organization who said, "An enemy is just someone whose story you haven't heard."

So, not to get all hippyish on you all either, but I'm sure this is good advice for us when the haters start going off.

Maybe, one day, Fender people and Gibson people will find a way to live together in peace and harmony!

Yeah, a little less tension would be nice. I'll do my part to lighten the mood.

As far as online forums, this is by far the most civil place I have seen - which is what draws me back to it every day. Let's stay focused on the whole point of this place - to discuss Fender products - and we'll all be OK.

Also remember that it's hard to convey spirit and emotion through written text - so don't assume any tone or attitude when you read other's posts.

As "longer term" members of this forum, it's our duty to police this place and keep things respectable. Resist the urge to jump in on silly threads and lash out. What's the point anyway? I'm not here to argue, but to learn and help ...

You know I was just thinking this. I'm pretty new here and maybe I missed some of the threads that the OP is talking about, but in general this is one of the most civil forums I've seen. I'm glad you all want to keep it that way.

I've noticed it as well, mostly in the Lounge. Instead of avoiding posting altogether, I spend more time in the gear forums where folks are just asking for and giving help and advice.
Much more satisfying than reading pointless posts about "Which is the best whatever" and seeing people argue about it.
My 2 cents.
:)

This forum is suppose to be about guitars. Not problems in other countries or how the weather affects ones mood. If your feeling negative that day then don`t post anything cause it only leads to more negativity. Lets all stay friends and play nice, or the forums are going to be closed during certain hours like they were before.

I agree with that statement. I have not noticed any trolls or spam in this place (Like I hate (insert some poor girls name) sites).

One thing I don't think enough people know about is that words can kill. A couple months ago a teenager here in Iceland commited a suicide after he had been picked on, on a popular hobby forum (www.hugi.is). He had been suffering from a depression and had dyslexia. He was picked on because of his dyslexia and he suggested in his suicide note that was one of the reasons why he took his life.

I feel like that I have to mention that this is not a urban legend (may sound like it). The kids mom alerted the media and there was a lot of discussion on cyber bullying afterwards. There was even a memorian piece on the kid on the hobby forum.

There is a Icelandic saying "Í nærveru sálar"... In a presence of a soul. It means that you should choose your words or what you are about to say carefully... you never know who you might hurt.
