That's because they are Ford products! :) Should have bought GM!

Sorry, you walked into that one!

Yep, it's just like Dale Gribble said on King of the Hill:

I'm all for Patriotism, and I think it's really nice when consumers show thier love of country by buying American. However when the Producers don't share that Patriotism and take advantage of their fellow citizens by relying on that patriotism instead of competing, we need to stop buying from them until thier supply matches demand. If GM was as Patriotic as Fender, their products would be obviously better that the imports. If you've ever test drove a GM compared to a Honda, you'll know what I mean. When I find that imports are better than Domestic, but I'm expected to buy it or I'm an economic Benedict Arnold, I'm offended.

As Far as the Road Worn Prize being from Japan; Fender may have started right here in Southern California, and first made popular by American Buddy Holly, The Shadows quikly took it by the Horns and made it a UK favorite. Since then Fender has been an International Icon. And Fenders assotiation with the Fugi String Instrument Production Corperation is a long and honored history.

With some of the price increases I am hearing talked about I guess Fender is taking lessons from the oil companies on how to be patriotic.

Right. I hope that I wasn't speaking in past tense. If fender pulls that, I'll turn on 'em like a Weather Vein.

It was nice enough that Fender gave away a truck in the contest reguardless of its country of origin. How could you even complain about that ? Some lucky winner got to drive away with a free truck. If you won would you have refused it because it was a Japanese truck ? I think not...We tend to forget how Fender reaches out to its supporters and this forum is proof of that. I didn`t hear of any other guitar company at NAMM offering a contest of this caliber. Be happy you were able to participate, you had as much chance at winning that truck as anyone else did.

FYI 2 Points:

1. The Toyota Racing team uses a Chevy truck to tow their equipment.
2. Mercury and Cadillac are numbers 2 & 3 on the JD Powers quality ranking, ahead of Toyota and Acura...

'Sometimes have the sad feeling there are danged few real American-made products. The most obvious common provable ones seem to be:

Antiques with a stamp "Made in USA"
Locally-grown food

Like it or not, it's a "global" world for most consumer goods.

In this opinion, the ultimate best way to be a really, truly good American is to be a current or former member of the armed forces...and live your life as the idealization of the Founding Fathers' beliefs.
