The American standard Strat is as much a symbol of America as baseball, apple pie, the Ford F-150,the Chevy Silverado, and the Dodge Ram, I am appalled the the road worn prize is a japanese truck.

You know, there is a very very good possibility that truck was manufactured right here in the good ole US of A! I am pretty sure that the US workers employed by Toyota are grateful for a job right now where Chevy, Ford, Mopar are cutting thousands of jobs.

in all fairness i believe that it was a corporate team up,just like with shelby last year .fact is the parts even on american models are from multinational corporations .{chevy uses vortec motors }.i bet the toyota was assembled in the U.S.I think Fender knows thier identity and uses it quite effectively ,my respect to fender for a great contest once again

Would you feel better if it were a Chevy or Ford vehicle that was made in Mexico or Canada?

Yeah, I know there's a Toyota plant right here in Texas.

CHeck Cars.com's "American made index."

http://www.cars.com/go/advice/Story.jsp ... ff=chitrib

Toyota Tundra and Sienna are more American than most "American" cars.

It saddens me even more that nobody has agreed with my American pride opinion. Regardless of who and where the toyota is made 100 percent of the corporate profit goes back to japan. Don't beat me up to bad over my opinion guy's, I am just a Patriotic American Guitar player and feel better moving my gear in a F-150.

I've owned crappy and great American and foreign cars. I'll drive whatever is reliable and affordable. I don't care who makes it.
YMMV.

I don't think there are many americans that are not proud to be here. It's just the the companies we've supported have gone the outsourcing route and nothing is totally american or foreign anymore.

I also disagree with "Regardless of who and where the toyota is made 100 percent of the corporate profit goes back to japan."

I would much rather buy the product that I like the best, that also supports my neighbors families and puts food on their tables since they're the ones working there, than a Ford truck built in Canada, or a Dodge built in Brazil. So what if the execs are doing well? It's the working class I support, that's why I'll buy what we work on, no matter what company it happens to be for.

I'd rather drive a car that my neighbor's kid can smile and say "My dad built that!" instead of "My dad works for them, but its all outsourced somewhere else." There is no pride in that for me.

All My Trucks have been American branded but my last couple new cars have all been Honda's. The last two American cars I bought were 20+ thousand dollar garbage cans with wheels (Taurus SHO, Couger XR7)

Yeah man! Be proud of your nation!
I'm proud of my country too!
I bet America's a great country, and I also get your frustration about the fact that you only hear the negative news about America, but it's usually the bad news that more interesting to lots of people.

Nice. I've had good and (mostly) bad luck with American cars. That really saddens me since a huge amount of my family worked for the big 3. The last 4 american cars I had were total junk, ran like crap, taken back to the dealer a ton of times, lemons, mini-van door FELL off and almost crushed my son - just pathetic. And we wonder why people stopped paying too much money for junk cars? Sad indeed.
