I voted no - from Fender's point of view the whole purpose of these forums is to support their products. How does a dedicated song writer's forum do that? That's kind of the point of the lounge - to discuss anything not specifically related to product. There are other places out there for song writing ...

The poll works. It's storing up the votes for another 27 days (as of 1/30). He's making us wait for the results. I don't think I can stand the suspense!

I'm sure there's legal issues that will discourage Fender, like copyright laws and such, but I'd still like to see more discussion on songcraft. And if you think about it, the Fender DEC is a product that would be bolstered by a songwriters forum.

-First line of the Fender G-DEC's description from this very site.

I voted No. The Fender Forum is not the place for it in my personal opinion.

Yeah, would you want people stealing your lyrics?

There may be more problems than benefits. You can post lyrics and claim your copyright, but it won't help you in court. Neither will the old registered mail trick. I would never post my lyrics without a legal copyright registration.

And this is just one pitfall.

It seems to me that a song-writers thread should be sufficient. I've seen this done on other forums and it works well.

i did not vote because i'm not sure what we are voting for .song writing? does some one need a song? your girl said no kisses or hugs without a new song? alright i'll help. "i'm thinking 'bout my little angel-- she is from heaven up above-- at night she is so soft and gentle-- by morning she's my turtle dove-- you know she'll love me tonight-- because i treat her right... not a whole song but if you open the old song with this verse you will get a kiss and a hug. (old song= treat her right by Roy Head)

and sorry guys i didnt mean to make you wait so long i just wanted to give it a good amount of time so that as many people that wish to vote can vote because usually you dont get much result with a 1-2 day poll and its been 3 days and only 20 votes and this should be on a larger scale seen as it affects the website so we should see how many people say yes or no from the whole site instead of just from the group of people that have been talking about it
