A friend of mine has birthday soon, and I'm planning to buy an electric guitar (Fender or Squier) to him. It will be his first, and it has to be cheap.

He is allready playing acoustic, so what guitar do you recommend?

-----

I've allready bought a amp (Frontman 10G), so don't think of that.

Wow I wish I had friends like you...I agree that a used Fender Stratocaster MIM or a new Squire Guitar would be a nice gift.

Check out these New Squires:

Or a used Fender usually goes for 2-3 hundred dollars (US). Forgot to mention that I am partial to Stratocasters but Telecasters are cool too.

Personally, I would go with a Squier Duo-Sonic. Simple and great quality. Just a really good all around guitar. I've got American guitars and I plan on getting one. Good luck.

The Squier Standard series is a good bang for the buck. I saw a HSS Standard Squier Strat at my local music store the other day running under $300. With Duncan Designed humbuckers too! :)

...good idea right there, you could try ebay as well.

The Squier Tele is a good guitar for $170 new.

Even cheaper, you can also find squires all over CL, most for less than $100.
