I would like it more when the pick guard was black also.
Like the new David Gilmore but with rosewood fretboard.

Cheers :D

My Straight Six Strat is Flat Black and it does look cool.

Nope.

Not a fan of black instruments, especially guitars. Tho do have a black bass (only color able to find, discontinued Line 6 Variax. mother-of-toilet seat white-pearloid pickguard breaks up the severity of look)

I like shiny black, but not flat black. The Highway 1 finishes do not appeal to me.

But that's why they so many different colors--something for everyone! :D

It depends on the style of music and your image as well. If you're playing industrial or metal on it, then yeah - flat black would work pretty well.

If you're rather nerdy and are playing super-happy music - probably not a good fit.

I'm not a fan of the HW1 satin finishes. Makes them look cheap to me.

A diamond plate pick guard would look pretty good on flat black. Check out Pickgurads.com.

I take that back. Your guitar looks very cool. Maybe it's just the new-yet-satin burst finishes that look bad to me. I've seen the reddish ones that I didn't like either.

That flat black with the black pearl pickguard is pretty sweet though.

A problem with the flat finishes is, your picking arm can and will polish them to a sheen over time. they look coool, but I have yet to see an older one that wasn't partly glossy.

I love black guitars, something very classy about them (for me anyway).

flat black with a glossy black pickguard or a polished aluminium pickguard would look good to me.
