I get really thick callouses on my fingertips from playing. They sometimes start to crack and peel. I use a fine emory board to smooth them out. This works really well after I have had my hands in water (like a shower or bath).

A light coat of vasoline will help heal the dried cracks in your fingers. I use to work outdoors in cold temps and that worked good.
+1 on the vasoline. I used to work with alot of heavy duty chemicals and especially in the winter I would get cracks and splits all over my hands. Someone told me that before you go to bed coat your hands up with vasoline then put on "white cotton gloves" and sleep with them on. That really worked for me! :) I don't work with chemicals anymore but still get some finger splits in the winter. Now I use Gold Bond - Healing formula. Works pretty good.

NE knows the secret . cause i play bass i sometimes keep the left glove on for practice does'nt interfere as much as you'd think.

My hands dry out real bad then the skin cracks open and bleeds. Short of moving to a more humid climate I use a lotion called Corn huskers lotion…Good stuff..it’s not oily at all..Just put it on twice a week before bed…rub it in till its dry and press on…it soaks right in and then you never knew you had it on..it is the only thing that stopped my cracking fingers and heels on my feet…a mechanic friend of mine put me onto it and his hands are bad being in engine compartments all day… you can get it at Wal-mart or any drug store.....this is what it looks like......

It has happened to me many times, especially on my ring finger. The only advice I can offer is take a break! I know it's a terrible concept but it's the only thing I have found will heal those cracks unfortunately.
