Check this out , the tip of my middle frettin' finger has a horizontal crack right where I compress.

I grabbed my Mechanic gloves & was actually able to play a lil bit, & not sound half bad! Still hinders My ability quite A bit, but they were surpizingly workable!

I use Udder Cream on the cracks, It's awesome for healing dry skin, but I can't pick up & jam cause it's greasy & has to sit & heal for a while.

Thought it'd be a good topic for the forum to see what kinda Home remidies people might have out there, I know some of you guy's don't have the luxury of taking a day off when You're needing that $$ & exposure, So tell us, Any Superglue Guys out there doin it Hardcore anymore? Or is there a Wonder product out there that I'm not aware of?

Peace&1Love Ya'all...CJT76'

Hi CJT76, for minor cuts and scratches (I'm a car mechanic) I use crazy glue. For deeper cuts, I use an Organic Timed Compound Resource made by Self-Healing Brand Company. :)

But seriously, if the cut prevents me to do bends, I'll just fiddle with my classic guitar for a while but sometimes you just have to wait and let nature heal itself. Good luck.

Claude.

I had a crack beginning on my thumb recently, which didn't interfere with doing bends but was still painful. I put some antibiotic cream on (Neosporin) and then covered it with a band-aid for a day, and it closed up pretty quickly.

I realized about five years ago that fear of hands/fingers related injuries kept me away from playing guitar. Now I say "The Hell with it". I take care of my hands and I am SUPER carefull in all my activities. Take care CJT76. 8)

A light coat of vasoline will help heal the dried cracks in your fingers. I use to work outdoors in cold temps and that worked good.

+1 on the vasoline. I used to work with alot of heavy duty chemicals and especially in the winter I would get cracks and splits all over my hands. Someone told me that before you go to bed coat your hands up with vasoline then put on "white cotton gloves" and sleep with them on. That really worked for me! :) I don't work with chemicals anymore but still get some finger splits in the winter. Now I use Gold Bond - Healing formula. Works pretty good.

Are you taking a fish oil dietary supplement? That can help moisturize winter skin for a lot of people.

Its worth a try, if all else fails.
How thin are your nails?
If too thin, discretely use some nail polish.

When i first started to play, my fingers quickly got callused. I learned that I could sand them down and they don't crack. I don't use any softener, I just use my Dr. Scholls foot double sided sandpaper gizmo, it works every time!

find a compounding pharmacy and ask the pharmacist to make you a cream with lactic acid and urea. Best stuff ever.
