It seems more and more people are posting original work (which I love! Keep it up guys!) and I think a board devoted to that kind of thing is the logical next step. What'd you think? Brad?

It seems like a good idea, but there are so many other sites to post your music on already. In my browser Favorites I have over 40 sites to post your music and they're just the ones I know about.

When I finally get my act together, I plan to be active on about 7 websites and that may be too many for me to maintain.

A songwriters forum section would be better here people on other forums can tend to be rude when it comes to this and the Lounge is just full of good people who wouldnt critizise too hard

sometimes you need harsh criticism to get better. whatever you put out in a place like this, you have to be ready to face whatever is thrown at you. Unless, of course, some people are just critical on what genre of music it is.

even at the young age i'm at, i TRY to write my own stuff. I'm yet to write a full song as I hate most of the things I do.

Well I mean when people think you need it Im sure theyd go as harsh as needed.

Lol same I hate most of the stuff i write. Every time i write something its either too long or too short.

i've tried writing lyrics and let's just say it wasn't too good. okay it really sucked.

i think i'm pretty decent at writing music though.

Keep writing bad lyrics, but don't show anyone. Before you know it, they'll start to get better, and you can start to show 'em off. Also go back and listen to some of the most famous songs in History, I bet half of them have dumb lyrics. ELO's "Don't Bring Me Down", Metallica "Enter Sandman" (A tough-guy song about being afraid of monsters  ), T-Rex "Bang a Gong" (Hubcap Diamond Star Halo?? Was he wearing a hubcap off an old International Harvester?)

Clever lyrics are best, but not as important as a good vocal hooks and melodies.

I found my songs, especially the lyrics, have gotten a lot better as I got older. Now I need a singer.

Ah C'mon Stratmansteve, you can do it. Some of the best song writers lacked vocal chops. Dylan, Springsteen, Petty, The Beatles. Just hit the notes, let the audience decide if you're good or not.

I think a songwriter's forum would be great. :D

stratmansteve said it first, and it's true: there are dozens of songwriter's forums on the web. The users in those forums are not usually rude, either: fact is, they're usually far more kind than they should be.

A songwriter's forum on this board would not be better or worse than anyplace else, and it would serve no purpose for the hosts of the board, so I can't see a reason for it.
