Hi, I heard a rumour that RHCP have parted ways to do solo projects- at least for a while, this started as a desicion of John Frusciante-

My Question, as a Guitarist who has contributed heaps to RHCP over the past two decades, and is an avid Fender Player- why is there no John Frusciante Sig. Strat? If there was such a model, I certainly would order one right away.. Thoughts?

I thought there already was one - the tri-tone sunburst strat?

A friend of mine sent me a photo of him playing one when I got mine, to show what good company I was in.

Yeah- He strictly plays vintage 60's and the odd 70's era strat, 60's Tele Custom and I saw him with a Gretch White Falcon when he was in town with RHCP- But such an influencial guitarist and songwriter- aswell as the fact that they pump out successful albums time after time, I cant understand why there is no strat bearing his signature...

his main guitar is a standard unmodified 62' strat, so how would a signtaur model differ from an 62' reissue strat?

They could revert to the last hold out, "specially wound pickups to his exact specifications". Oh, and how about a special limited-edition RHCP relic job?

Frusciante is a great player. I like the RHCP, but i think the artist models are starting to get out of control, some are really cool but (this is just me) i like to sound like myself, i dont wanna copy someone else all the time. Although those Gilmour strats look pretty cool!

Just another way to Jack up the price. Tell us what they did to the guitar and let us experiment from  there.

the pickup thing would be a cop out. Like 'tube said, his main guitar is totally unmodified. Artist models should have something to set them apart.

I guess the answer could be, what shape of the neck, pick-ups, finishes etc.. ideally would he put in? much like the EJ Strat- these are things from the 60's era guitars that he may request and also what would be his ultimate guitar.. even if it was a custom shop limited run.

Even though some may dream of owning a '62 strat- I personally have had the opportunity to play one briefly years ago that was fairly reliced as some may say, it most definately wasnt the best guitar ive played- not even compared to a 12yr old squire.. yet you wouldnt want to drop the thing in fear of losing resale value. but I guess the great thing about road worn or custom models is that even though they look old and worn, they're very much brand new.. so now there is a mim relic produced, with some mods Im sure they could turn one into an artist model..
