Gosh, I got a surprise when I saw a thread here with cryingstrat's name on the by-line. Then I saw the date of the original post.

Ah well. Missing but not forgotten. Good luck, wherever you are, CS.

Cheers - C

Sometimes when there's nothing I find comment-worthy on the current pages, I'll go in to the archives and see if there's an old subject that is interesting.

It's funny how many times we are repeating (almost verbatim) a subject or thread that was originally held four years ago by different people.

Within the first few weeks of the Forum starting someone asked what those "mysterious" holes routed in the neckpocket and front beneath the pickguard of most modern Strat bodies are. A Fender employee replied and explained that they are there for alignment on the CNC machines.

I've seen that question asked again and again ever since. Many weird and wonderful theories have been put forward and sometimes left to stand. I've never again seen anyone from Fender bothering to reply and put people straight on it. Maybe they feel they have better things to do, or perhaps they just enjoy the exotic ideas better.

My favorite answer to the questions was:

Somehow the spelling and smilie made it perfect.

Anyway. If you come across that old thread, give it a bump, why not? Unless you feel it would spoil people's fun.
