I know this is a Fender forum but I was just curious if anyone has seen the new Jeff Beck Les Paul and what you guys think. The MSRP is around $8000.00

Well, being a big Jeff Beck fan, yes, of course I've had a look and at that price, looking is all I will do.
The bridge pickup is very close to the wrap-around bridge for some reason, it must affect the sound, probably for more bite. Powerful burstbuckers and all around nice looking guitar but $8000 ?
Blow by Blow was a great album and he used this on that one but not exclusive. For ' Cause We Ended As Lovers ' he used a Tele.
In my view Jeff Beck as always made any guitar sound good so it would indicate it's the man's skill, as much as anything.
I have the Jeff Beck Strat and would love to add this to the collection but not at that price...... :?

Yeah I love Jeff Beck too that's why I asked. It looks like a great guitar but at that price looking is all I can do. :(

Get yourself a JB Strat, if you haven't already, they are way more affordable and thats all I see him using live now anyway.
I have always been a fan of Jeff Beck, going way back to his Yardbirds days, with his Esquire and that sounded pretty good too.
$8000 !? I mean, come on !! I know they are calling it a limited run of 50 followed by 100 VOS but they can do another run anytime.
I just don't get it...

So Jeff is working both sides of the fence?

Gibson AND Fender models !?!?

Good for him.

Next will be a reissue of the Strat on the front cover of "Wired."

FWIW: The JB esquire is $15,000.

If I had to choose I would definitely get the JB Strat.

The problem is with Fender hiking their prices out of a working mans budget I won't be getting anything soon :(
I figure the JB Strat will be around $2000.00 after the price increase.

I still have my Highway One so I'm happy tho.

Be it the LP, the Esquire, the Strat, etc, it really must be nice to first, have that kind of spare money and second, be able to dump it on such things and never feel the pinch.

On a related matter, paying such prices for intrinsically what they are is ludicrous. YMMV

Yeah, I think Fender is making a mistake raising their prices. Especially now with the economy the way it is. Alot of people are going to be hanging on to what they have for a while.

amen to that. guitars can be a work of art, but they are musical instruments, and sometimes folks may forget that. i mean, if people are playing instruments made by antonio stradavari, they shouldnt worry about this one.

Gibson already had an Oxblood model for much less.. then they put a few ramdon dings here and there, maybe a couple other things like pickups... and a different CEO and say it's a Jeff Beck model and charge 4-5 grand more for it. Congrats Gibson. Same thing with the "50th anniversay 59 Les Paul". Just ridiculous.

There was some talk in these forums about Bonamassa and Gibson. Well, he has a signature LP justs released.
