I believe he's an amazing musician, too bad the latest Smashing Pumpkins record didn't meet my expectations!

A bit unfair imho, it's not like the guy has been an abject failure. One of the most sucessful bands of it's time, he must be doing something right, no? How many bands have done residencies at the Fillmore Auditorium? He took a huge gamble doing this, especially after just completing a residency in Ashville ( I believe). I have a great deal of respect for the guy, and what he has achieved. As for the new album, why have expectations? It's a new band he has put together, new musicians with their own ideas. Of course they're going to sound different, and imo some of it stands up to anything else that's come out the past year or so (musically) from any other band on the go. And for those of you who think Billy in pretencious, try watching " What if it all goes wrong" You might gain some understanding about the man, I certainly did. Peace

I love SP, and was lucky enough to see them in a small theater from the third row (I got 4 tickets, and sold the other pair for $600 ... hoo-hah). But wasn't the Corgan topic all hashed out to death in countless threads when they came out with his sig guitar last Sept or so?

I agree 01GT, I just felt he was being put down a bit here. SP and/or Billy himslf may not be everyones cup of tea, but he deserves a bit of respect for what he has achieved. Just my humble opinion, and I happened to be listening to Zeitgeist at the time of reading this thread

I think he warrants a sig guitar - and an intersting one it is.
Far more worthy of a sig guitar than Steve Jones who gibson who have just released one for, and at a price around 4 times that of a Billy Corgan strat

All personal opinion.

Me? I like some of the SP stuff, a lot. I always hated his whiny voice though. And personality wise, he seems like a turd. How annoying do you have to be to have Ozzy kick you off HIS tour?

From what I can tell his sig. guitar is basically a highway one strat with upgraded pickups. I could be wrong tho.

I never voiced opinion when starting this poll of what i felt.

I think as a player Billy is quite amazing, he thinks in terms of layers when constructing guitar parts. Not just 4 chords we're done. Although sometimes it can sound that way.

Siamese Dream insipred me to want to play guitar, and in fact Billy inspired me to pick up a strat so thanks for that.

I understand him not wanting to live in the past but most of the time his comments towards fans of the past seem arrogant and unappreciative and frankly disrespectful.

He really doesn't grasp that he's been afforded the luxury of making music for a living by those fans, and they are the only thing that allowed him to survive the fall of the "alternative" phase in music. Because i surely doubt the sales of the "new SP" are nearly that of the first 4 albums.

I also think his Signature Strat is very unimaginative and lack luster....WOW a CBS headstock holy crap!!!

But for the inspirational stuff early on i thank him, but for his "i'm sooo freaking complex, the fans just don't understand how good they have it because my lap dog Jimmy Chamberlain and i are making noise again" attitude. He can go away forever and i wouldn't miss him.

Yes i sound scorn. He was my Guitar Hero, but just comes off as a spoiled brat and i just can't deal with it.
