I just picked up a new Cry-Baby wah hoping it would solve my problem with my old wah, it was picking up 96.1 FM every time I was on the upswing, very close to the top. The new wah does it too. Is there a way to shield the inside of the pedal, or could it be the cables I'm using. They are fairly good quality. Thanks for your replies.

Are you sure its the pedal and not something else? Radio stations are not just a shielding issue, it may have to do with grounding as well. If you have already not done so, try the wah pedal in different setups...different amps, guitars, and cords. Also, if you are using a 9v adaptor, try batteries, if you are using batteries try a 9v adaptor. To me, if this is happening with 2 different pedals bought at 2 different times, its possibly something else in your line up...unless somehow you just happened to get 2 pedals at different times with the exact same issue, but I don't know how likely that could be...

Does this happen only when using the Wah?

I get it from one of my fuzz pedals. When i use it in the bedroom it picks up radio luxemburg, i thought radio luxemburg finished years ago

Leads or grounding issues can cause the problem, with me its gotta be grounding. The pedal doesnt do it in studio's or even my kitchen.

Pretty sure it's the pedal. I only have a '73 Twin-Reverb to test it with, but have another guitar with humbuckers, it does it with both guitars. I've tried different cords with it. I've tried it with a 9 volt, and with the DC Brick power station. The first pedal is a Jimi Hendrix Dunlop brand from '92, and this new one is a Cry-Baby 535Q.

Yes, and only when it is near the treble side of the pedal (near the top swing). It does this about 95% of the time. So not every time. I've tried moving the pedal around the room and different rooms, but it still does it.

Does this happen if your too close to the radio or anywhere in the house ? If I`m too close to the computer I pick up interference so I don`t play near it. Try moving the radio see if that helps.

Thanks for the replies folks. I'm upstairs where there are no radios or computers. There are no TVs even upstairs. I've read in other posts how bad power tubes could be culprit, but I don't think this is my case in this scenario.

Will do. I hope that that is not the problem though, because I have a very small studio (if you can even call it that) in my house, and I hope I don't have to move to the guest room.
Thanks everyone.

I live pretty close to an Airport and Sometimes My equipment will pick up the Automated Weather Service broadcast. I thought it was my Wah 'cause I noticed it when I kicked it on, but when I unplugged everything and went straight into the amp, I could still hear it, but I had to turn the amp up nearly all the way. The wah was acting as a radio signal booster. Sometimes I'll hear a CB radio key in, but not so much latley. CB's aren't in fashion I guess.

I don't know what to do about it. :(

yea i have the same pedal and have encountered this before but my dad says that it has to do with the amplifier and not the pedal because the magnets in the amplifier are so strong they can pick up radio frequencies and im pretty sure mine happened even when i wasnt using the wah.
and i dont see any way that the pedal can pick up radio frequencies so i dont think its the pedal but who knows maybe it is.

i have a few cry-baby wahs and i have never had that problem.
but i also have 2 dunlop reissue dallas arbiter fuzz faces and i have had problems with them picking up radio station's and police radio. when you use your wah are you also using a fuzz distortion? if you are theres the problem if not i dont have a clue. wahs havent been known to pick up radio waves.

It's definitly the amp, the Wah just boost the signal. And for whatever reason it seems to be worse in the Twilight.
