I did. Haven't heard anything back since then.

I just ordered two, but didn't like how the round is too rounded, and the sharp is too sharp.

So I emailed him and asked why, with so many shapes and sizes, they don't have a "normal" shaped pick (fender, dunlop, etc). Apparently that's a "hybrid" and a custom order, which they can do, but that's nowhere on the site. Not a great idea to leave that off. I would have ordered that one, and about 6 of my guitar friends were ready to order picks until they noticed that they don't make "normal shaped" picks, but "novelty" picks.

Not impressed with the whole thing so far. We'll see how it works when my too-sharp and too-rounded picks come in. I'm already annoyed with them.

I'm really surprised you feel that way about V picks people, I've dealt with them several times. I did have a problem with an order, I e-mailed them to discuss it. My problem was solved there and then, very honorable people at V picks. As for the products, I love the picks, like many other posters, I have quite a few and tend to rotate. I also got the Les Paul pickguard (uber cool) and a slide. I'm highly impessed with all the V stuff, try talking to them about your wishes, you might just be surprised.

I did hear back. An hour after I placed the order it was "already sent out".

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'm sure it's normally a good transaction, and I'm sure the picks are pretty cool. It's just that their product line is strange, and the site it out of date with that. I'd probably buy a lot of them if I liked them, recommend them to my students and a ton of my musicians friend (most of the detroit area), but I have nothing good to say so far.

We'll see when they come in though. Unless they're the ultimate ones, I'll make sure I warn my friends about the whole thing.

Thanks again though...

First off I apologize to Brad if my post is out of line, however I do have a few questions for dgonz on this.

You went to the V-Pick website and thought the website was out of date and left important information off?

And that the product line is strange?

You placed an order for V-Picks you thought were too round or too sharp?

You didn't contact V-Picks with your question about a normal shaped V-Pick before you placed your order?

When you did contact them you found out your order had already been filled and shipped?

You are not impressed and annoyed at the transaction?

You are going to warn everyone you know about your transaction with V-Picks because why?

Do you think your negative comments are warranted before you even try the product you ordered?

What do you think would have made this a pleasant transaction?

Just so you know:

I do not work for V-Picks nor do I get compensated for recommending V-Picks. Vinni is my friend and has been for years before he founded V-Picks. I recommend V-Picks because it is a product that I use and believe in.

It's not a big deal.

Yes, as a marketing/creative person myself, I think it was a bad decision to leave out what would possibly be their best-selling and most widely-appealing products, completely off their website. I probably should have asked beforehand though, I agree.

I'm not bad mouthing anything yet, only that their site doesn't have their full product line and is hard to navigate (not to mention horrible looking, but he said they're working on that). I might very well love the things when I get them, I have no idea. I'm just annoyed, and actually surprised, about the "normal" pick not being on the site, and that the order "already went out" less than an hour after I placed the order, yet I didn't get a "order sent" email for a few days later. Just seems a bit disorganized and unprofessional. But, it is - what it is.

And yes, I would also warn any friend about ordering there, and to ask for the "hybrid" pick or call for it. And also, that they're not very flexible about their orders. I'd absolutely want any friend to know those things before they order.

Mom and Pop organizations usually need some tweaking. Mine are on their way, I got the confirmation pretty quick, now I am waiting for the mailman. I also have some books on repair coming too, so I feel like a dog tied up outside the grocery store, every time someone walks by my ears perk up, and my tail wags, until i realize its not the one I want, then I curl up and put my nose in my paws.

I agree that the web-site could use some modernization but it IS very functional, no frills yes, but very functional. I would also agree that adding their full product line would be a good idea, can't sell something if people don't know you offer it. :)

I can't fault any company for processing an order so fast that the customer didn't have a chance to change it.  It just shows me that they're on top of things and want to satisfy the customer by getting the product to them as quickly as possible. Perhaps next day processing would make better sense rather than immediate processing. :)

That all being said I placed my order for the Fab Four and received a very quick reply from Nancy and am just waiting on them to get here. I'll post thoughts on picks themselves after I use them for a bit.

Thanks for the post Twelve & Chet. :)

Just got my V-Picks today. Took a little while, but it was a cross-border transaction, so it wasn't really too long.

First impression is gonna take a little to get used to how big they are, but they aren't exaggerating about how different they sound than normal picks.

they really really add some weight to your tone.
