Hello Stringb,

The one hit wonder that usually comes to mind is
1969's "Something in the Air" by Thunderclap Newman.
Here's a link to the past.

Cheers.

I used to play the Keyboard Part on the Trumpet in the High School Band. Sometimes I still wake up with it in my head :!:

(Na Na Hey Hey) Kiss Him Goodbye - Steam

One and done. Just ran out of steam, I guess. (Sorry  ) Still played at every college sports arena in the country.

There really are a bunch of one-hit wonders. And the state of the music business today should generate even more.

Well the first post asks-

Signs was not the Five Man Electrical Band's debut, nor their first hot, nor their last one. It was their biggest hit, but not their only one.

There was Absolutely Right, Werewolf, I'm a Stranger Here, Money Back Guarantee, and Moonshine (Friend of Mine)--as well as a few others.

When I was in the High School Band we had to play that song at Basketball games everytime someone on our team scored. In one Quarter our team had scored like 40 points in a row. We could tell the audience and the players were getting sick of "Na Na Hey Hey" so we passed a plan around the group to Put down our instruments instead of playing when the teacher queued us. Sure enough, We score, Teacher gives the "Instruments Up" sign, we put the instruments up. She gives the ready sign, we're ready. She brings the Baton down to start the song, and we put our instruments down. She Turned Red with anger until a huge chear rose from the crowd and even a few player were clapping (including the exceptional young athlete who was making most of the points). Now-a-Days it's one of the only tunes I go out of my way NOT to hear.
