For artistry I still think one of the best bands I've seen are The Who. 8)

For me, it's Rory Gallagher. Hands down. And Van Gogh. I got to see Starry Night up close a couple years back. Photos and posters of this piece of art do NOT and never will give it justice. It's like a great band that can only be fully appreciated when seen live.

You've probably never heard of him but I really like Ian Moss. In the late 70s to mid 80s he played in a legendary australian pub rock band called Cold Chisel. He then went on to a solo career and backing up several other australian artists. I doubt whether he's known at all outside of australia but he has a really smooth, bluesy, rock sound. Plays mainly a Strat but occasionally cuts loose on a Tele also.

Piet Mondrian, no question.

He broke painting down into its most basic elements, just like the punks did for rock and roll...

Cool Ellen, I never thought of that as a Punk Painting

Stevie Ray Vaughan will always be my Favorite Artist, no matter what kick I'm on or Phase I'm going through.

Equally Generic but, no less truthful, Van Gogh is my Favorite Artist.

I guess it all depends on style for me.
Current artist I'll go with:
Synyster Gates from Avenged Sevenfold.
John Mayer with JM3.
There are so many its hard to narrow down.
All time I haven't seen Page metioned yet
so I'll say him.

mhainz - I've heard of Ian Moss, although I did hear of him inside Australia. You're right, he should be better known everywhere.
