Thats all any of us can have. Like i said i hope Obama has something up his sleeve. I'd hate for the bloke to be used as a patsy. Theres a lot of good he can do simply because he's the first black President. I hope he puts the current nonsense in the ground and gets on with the good stuff soon.

I never called Obama a blithering idiot - I think he is very intelligent. I also don't believe he came out of that Chicago/Illinois political machine squeaky clean...

I am also sick to death of that "Bush stole the election" garbage. If doddering old fools in Florida knew how to punch holes in pieces of paper, or if the Democrats could nominate somebody besides jerkoffs like Gore and Kerry, it would be a different story - see Obama for reference.

But I also am firmly convinced that the media openly campaigned for Barack Obama - and got away with it. So what does that do to the balance of power - not that we as private citizens have anything left but the illusion of power any more anyway.

And nikininja, your comments are not only welcome on my part but very cogent and coherent. Complicated business, this world we live in.

Ladies and gents, during my 22 years in the Navy I spent 2 tours of duty in the Pentagon. I got a belly full of having to work inside the Beltway and deal with the various warped individuals that inhabit that wasteland. I retired because they wanted to send me back and I refused! It's a dirty little world full of dirty little people - many of whom don't wear labels like Republican or Democrat and don't go away when administrations change...and they scare me the most....

But I truly wish the new President well...he is all we have for now...

Troublecall.
Its my fervent hope that Obama coming from (what is called in england) a minority can see through the BS of current politics and get some real work done. It has been my longstanding belief that both our goverments are under the influence of 'the hidden' people you mentioned. And therefore we could all be subject to a more democratic democracy than we experience now. I'm in no way anti democratic i just believe we could do better than the current systems. Although yours is better than ours.

nikininja,
A man much smarter than I once wrote:
"Any government will work if authority and responsibility are equal and coordinate. This does not insure "good" government; it simply insures that it will work. But such governments are rare-- most people want to run things but want no part of the blame...."

Sound familiar on either side of the pond?

and again:
"The two highest achievements of the human mind are the twin concepts of 'loyalty' and 'duty'. Whenever these twin concepts fall into disrepute - get out of there fast! You may possibly save yourself, but it is too late to save that society. It is doomed."

Ah, well.....

Alas such noble thoughts are not prevelant this side of the water. We have no real way of influencing our elected leaders that you enjoy. Our democracy is a much more 'elect your dictator' scheme.

Our politicians have long forgotten that they are our sevants as well as custodians.
Like your politicians they are paid by tax payers but ours seem to hold the customer in contempt.

The times of a leader who would play their cards close and did what they thought best regardless of public opinion ended with thatcher, in england.
I dont propose to fully understand the political game, but i recognise when someone takes charge. Atleast with someone who will lead and not be driven you know where your going. Obama has a great opportunity to be a leader not a driver. Lets hope he lives up to the roll cos all gordon brown or whatever joker we elect next (theres no straight guys in english politics) will follow, or be driven. Were no longer the brave nation we once were.

That statement means no disrespect to our forces who i still believe are the best in the world. Only our leaders that are sadly lacking.

If Obama, Pelosi and Harry Reid govern as liberals then all who work for a living are in BIG trouble. Hang on to your wallets people. Taxes are going up and you are going to lose some of your freedoms.

Nothing we aren't already accustomed to. Patriot Act?
Wouldn't you rather pay a very slight increase in taxes and give up some rights for a legitimate cause, or continue down this path we're on and probably be out of a job some day? Worth it, wouldn't you say?

Yes - history in the making indeed. The media has crowned a king in the US for the first time - King Obama-lama-ding-dong the first.
So now, not only is our government corrupt, bought and paid for by special interest groups, but it has been proven that the sheeple can be effective manipulated by the mass media.

George Orwell must be howling in laughter somewhere.
May God have mercy on our souls....

I'm a Political Skeptic from way back, I've been complaining about Presidents since before I could vote. I can tell you that these kinds of comments hold no water until after the first 100 days of a Presidency. Even after Bush lost the 2000 Election but won the Presidency, I waited till he Screwed up his First 100 Days before calling him a Blithering Idiot.

Let's all give Our Commander in Chief the chance to "Do His Thang" and show the rest of the world we're willing to Grow out of Partisanship for Partisanism's sake.

And trust me, George Orwell wouldn't think the Modern Day Opinion Press was the least bit funny. But let me end by saying....

Good Luck President Obama, don't let us down or you're fired!

I was not happy with much of what Pres. Bush did because he became to Big Goverment for me. He ran as a Conservative but he governed like he was not on domestic policy. To many programs now we can't afford because of Goverment bloat. Even though I was not happy with him he did keep our Home Land safe. And when I hear people say Quote;Even after Bush lost the 2000 Election but won the Presidency; End Quote They did nothing but keep it from being stolen from them by the other party. The courts get used like they are a Branch of the Democratic Party we see it all the time in Maryland. The polls get kept open longer just in certain areas, the voter rolls forget to be purged in certain districts ( then the person who's job it was gets a appointment) Voting machines used that the University of Maryland said were ripe for fraud. We even had more votes cast then there were registerd voters in some districts. We had a number of machices that had vote already cast before the polls opened and it was said it was a mistake they forgot to clear the test votes that were cast on the machines. The only reason anything was said was they got caught.

The only thing we can hope for is that change does come not just talk. I have not been very happy with Obama's appointment's so we will see if it is politics as usual. And Joe Biden I can't say anything good about him but that I wish he was not given a choice to pick either office. Lets hope theres a middle somewhere in there and that it works and the elected people have no choice but to work together.
For Americas sake

Like I said, 100 days and complain all you want, today he gets the benefit of the doubt. And as fas as
Quote:
And when I hear people say Quote;Even after Bush lost the 2000 Election but won the Presidency; End Quote They did nothing but keep it from being stolen from them by the other party.

That's like watching a stabbing in a bar and saying, "You can't blame the Stabber, security let him do it." Security may deserve a reprimand and maybe a refresher course on Situasional Awareness, but the Stabber has to face crimainal charges alone.

I fully agree that the Democrats should have stopped them from taking the election, but Bush/Cheney shouldn't have stolen it. The Democrats should have stopped the war, But Bush shouldn't have started it. The Democrats should have Impeached Bush, But Bush should have avoided needing impeachment.

Lets hope the Republicans are as powerless to stop Progress as the Democrats were to stop Recession.

But the Democrats don't blame the stabber they blame the knife manufacture. They don't blame the gunmen they blame the gun manufacture. Trade party line all day. I was not happy with Bush but come on impeach. Bill Clinton was impeached in December 1988 thats happend what two times in history. And you won't see Obama pulling as out of Iraq anytime soon. War is hell and I can say that seeing it first hand and you can't win any War if you try to do it in a civilized manner to please Politicians. If things stay as in the past it will be because people yacking the parting line instead of looking at the individuals. Be that Person a Republican or a Democrat. I have seen good and bad on both sides an I will admit that and its a shame others can not. I go with the person who has my beliefs and don't care what party they are in.

We have fun with stuff don't we Firstmeasure? Your good man and we share I Love in Guitars that we have in common My Friend.

Yes, we do have fun. You, too, are a good man, and a good debate. And you're dead right about Democrats blaming the weapons Maker. But my point was We The People have to blame the stabber. Being a Voter is like being a juror, being a poilitician is like being a lawyer. It's up to the jury to decide which lawyer is full of "IT". I'd vote against a Democrat in a heartbeat, if he doesn't do his job, or if he comes across as a used car salesman. Obama's more like a New Car Salesman (he better not let us down).

This stuff sounds like arguing, but it's all Freindly Politics.

Hey! The Netherlands are on the other side of the water too! Maybe I'm naive, but I think that here in the Netherlands, democracy is working pretty fine and that lots of other countries could learn from our small constitutional monarchy. Especially from our healthcare, social security and/by "equalisation of incomes". (small country, big ego)
Hope that that poor man Obama's gonna do is task wisely and internationally, because that's what we really need right now, for the world to cooperate.

Hey, I didn't thought that the election of US president could raise such a debate!

First thing first I'm french.
Second thing, is: "Don't take democracy for granted,as a citizen, you'll have to fight for it your whole life long, even for human rights!"

I wish the 44th president of the USA good luck. I think he's clever, and for the moment, sincere. He seems to let his heart speaks a little bit.

As a french, Bush made me laugh from day one. Way worst than the actor called Ronald Reagan.

Ah, for the moment, I wish I was an american, 'cos guess what:
We, the french people, have our own nightmare as French prez,
The one that has his teeth scratching on the ground for the pouvoir (power), ready to sell his mum, dad, whole family for it!

The omni-president with his brand new wife :p)

This is sometimes way worst than a half-asleep Bush. Trust Me!
Remember The small Nicolas, all alone, saved the Georgian people :)

Ah to finish on a good not, our senators went nearly on a fight yesterday on the parliament.

God save America. May America help us a little bit, we're lost in France :p)
Largol.

Post-Scriptum: I want Shane Nicolas for Prez....

Who knows..... maybe one day you'll look back and say things weren't so bad with Bush. There's enough blame to share with EVERYONE for the problems we are facing .... maybe even you !!

ps Let's stick with music and keep politics, religion, etc. for some other forum.
