My oldest plays guitar, pretty well if I do say so myself. Here we are in the garden a couple of summers back.

Being a longtime spoiler of 3 daughters this statement brings me a lot of comfort. Just wish i could spoil em with guitars. Their the one area where the missus doesnt cap what i spend.

My Son plays Guitar, Bariton Horn and piano and organ we have tried to support Him in music. He has many guitars that we have given him, his last one was a Gibby ES335.

No kids, but I bought my nephew a Mini Strat. Surprisingly playable and good sounding, for the little cash. His birthday is at the end of the month, I will give it to him, plus a little practice amp I have.

i kinda suspect he isn't into it so much himself, as the fact, he wants to be like the uncle. her asked about guitars after being at my place and hearing me noodling for the first time. I am hoping the spark is there. my brother, who doesn't play, and his wife seem enthusiastic though, so fingers crossed.

Great stories guys!

My soon to be 14 year old has really taken to it. I can see each week that he is getting better.

My 11 year old, on the other hand, doesn't seem so motivated. Maybe he's not ready just yet. I have to get that damn WoW game away from him ...

No kids here... but 2 of my nephews are showing high interest in playing... especially my oldest nephew who has been asking for my advice.

My daughter plays keyboards and flute but has never been interested in performing, other than when she was in the symphonic band in high school.

My nephew (my brother's son), on the other hand, is a very good guitarist/pianist. He released his debut CD last August. Things are going quite well for him.

My son plays a real mean bass in a Metalica tribute band. He also plays a 6 string. He plays to some very large audiences. I must say, and not because he's my son, that his group is exceptionally good. Metalica members have actually been to their concerts and turned up on stage with them. Personally, I don't care for that type of music but for those that do, these kids are pretty close to the original. Proud of him? You betcha. But he is in his 30's and has been playing for many years, he had better be good.

Sad subject. 'Gave them guitars as wee girls, supported them with lessons. They pretty much stopped when they started HS.

Our oldest daughter plays piano, and her husband has just recently decided to take up the guitar himself. So late last year (But before Christmas) he bought a Takamine acoustic/electric and started at it. (We gave him an Acoustic AG30 amp for Christmas.)

Our son has played guitar for about half his life (he's 32 now). He actually got a Tele before I did (a Highway One). His other guitars are a Martin DCX1E and a Baby Taylor.

OUr youngest daughter likes to noodle around on a guitar, and she sings like a bird. Her husband has also played guitar for much of his life, playing in bands before he and our daughter were married. He has a Takamine acoustic and an Epiphone Black Beauty, and he's currently GASing for a thinline. I don't know if he has his eye on the '69 or the '72 (personally, I hope it's the '69).

Both my sons play. When we play together it is too much fun.

My 16 year old plays drums, guitar, and clarinet
My 14 year old plays bass, guitar, flute, and french horn
