What are your favorite tabs sites? I'm having trouble finding one I really like.

I never used tabs until recently. I play by notes and I had a hard time find lyrics with notes instead of tabs. I found a good one I like a lot and printed off over 100 and made my own music book out of a 5in binder which I love but the site was called Cosmic Kitchen and I booked marked it however it is now gone :x But since I started using some tab I found a few good sites but they are few and far between. Just go to yahoo.com and search "Free Tab" and you should find one that suits your liking. But it's all in personal preference.

i also usually play by ear but i found that ultimate-guitar is usually reliable if theres something i just cant get. the best (MXtabs.net) was shut down for copyright issues or something and now you have to pay to get tabs from them i think i havent checked recently though

Hey Tom -

I use TABs all the time ... I looked forever and did the manual tabs, but this is the best I've found & has reviews, forum, etc:

http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/

To get the most out of this TAB site you may want to get a TAB program such as Guitar Pro 5 for about $60 or a free one call Power Tab:

Guitar Pro: http://www.guitar-pro.com/en/index.php
Power Tab: http://www.power-tab.net/guitar.php

I've used both, but now I have the $60 Guitar Pro (download from site) and it reads the "Pro" tabs and the "Power" tabs. I suggest you:

1.) Download and install the free Power Tab software
2.) Go to Ultimate Guitar Tabs Archive
3.) Type in a band name and look at the tons of tabs
4.) Pick one with the 'power' identifier

You won't be sorry!

Happy hunting ...

Try Cordie.com. They have numerous tabs for many artists.

when I use tabs, I use Ultimate-Guitar.com... but I don't do that very often.
It really is better to "find them out" for yourself, you really develope an ear for music and notes, when you do that.
I'm beginning to get pretty good at that, but I still find that Chords are really hard to hear..

I agree, but don't go to the forums, it's a mess with a lot of smarta$$es

My personal favourite is the guitar pro program. It plays the composition for you so you hear the timing too, something that tabalature cant do. You can also set it to repeat bars and drop whatever track you want out. A lot of tabs are cluttered and poorly written. It can ruin a accurate tab.

+1. they did votes for best and worst bands of 2009 and the results were so biased.

I use Ultimate Guitar Tabs site and Guitar Pro 5.2 to get started on a song. I check it out, play the score, save EVERYTHING for future use, then once I feel good about 85% or 90% of the rhythm to a song, I will play the CD (or such lossless rip on my computer - hehe) and figure out what was wrong on the TABs and try to make it right by ear.

You're right - many are sorry TABs but there are those who are good guitarists and have an ear (or book of real TABs - ever Guitar World magazine) and will make some great TABs. Then comes along some young turk who wants *his* tab, and its not so good ... I just sift through and then combine that with ear playing -- which playing along with the CD is my basic goal.

Still, I personally am pretty happy with Ultimate Guitar & Guitar Pro 5.2 : )
